how to setup a simplest travel-mode read-only IMAP
Hi All, I don't use gmail/hotmail etc... I have been a Mozilla/SeaMonkey/Thunderbird user for ever now... The mail and folders are all on my private fileserver. But on certain tours, I do know in advance that I would like IMAP access to my mail folders. Nothing but the simplest read-only access to the years of accumulated email. (All that email was soft-mounted onto /mnt/mail for safety and

WIN 98 password problem
Hi! I'm new on the list, so please, be patient with me! I have a problem for wich I can't find the answer in the FAQ. Until recently I was running a 16 PC-s network with SCO OpenServer 5.0.4 and Samba 1.9.16p11 on the server and mixed clients (Win 3.11 to Win 95 OSR2). The users on the network have access to a PUBLIC directory on they own user directories on the server without

machine name lookups
We have been looking for a way to notify our users when they are running low on disk quota, without sending them mail. WinPopup actually seemed like the best way, so my partner began looking at feeding quota output into smbclient -M when quota was getting tight. The only problem is that smbclient -M frequently fails to find the client's host name. The -I parameter will often fix it, but I am

prcomp - principal components in R
Hello, not understanding the output of prcomp, I reduce the number of components and the output continues to show cumulative 100% of the variance explained, which can't be the case dropping from 8 components to 3. How do i get the output in terms of the cumulative % of the total variance, so when i go from total solution of 8 (8 variables in the data set), to a reduced number of

Samba-3.0.2 PDC LDAP: Add computer to domain issue with smbldap-tools
Hi guys, I've installed openldap-2.1.25 and Samba-3.0.2 and configured everything with no TLS on a Slackware-9.1 Linux box. To manage the LDAP backed I've used smbldap-tools-0.8.4. After populating the database with smbldap-populate I was able to first add users to /etc/passwd etc. and then to LDAP with smbldap-useradd -a and access the server via Windows PCs. Everything appeared to be

Question about PCA with prcomp
Hello All, The basic premise of what I want to do is the following: I have 20 "entities" for which I have ~500 measurements each. So, I have a matrix of 20 rows by ~500 columns. The 20 entities fall into two classes: "good" and "bad." I eventually would like to derive a model that would then be able to classify new entities as being in "good

samba and dhcp problem
Hello, Can someone please help me out with the following. I have installed Samba for FreeBSD. It runs and at *times* runs great. But here is the big problem. Well the problem involves the ISP I am connected to, I think. I am connected to the Internet via cablemodem. The cable co. uses a dhcp server. From time to time the IP's change. Today I was lucky as all my IP's were in the

Hi, Could you please advice some easy way to do the following for a dataframe (header=F) having unequal column- & row- length. 1. Combine/stack/join contents from - a) multiple rows into one column. b) multiple columns into one row. 2. Stack contents from multiple columns (or, rows) into one column (or, row). Thank you. PCA on high dimentional data
Hi: I have a large dataset mydata, of 1000 rows and 1000 columns. The rows have gene names and columns have condition names (cond1, cond2, cond3, etc). mydata<- read.table(file="c:/file1.mtx", header=TRUE, sep="") I applied PCA as follows: data_after_pca<- prcomp(mydata, retx=TRUE, center=TRUE, scale.=TRUE); Now i get 1000 PCs and i choose first three PCs and make a

Samba startup problems
Hi, I've got a problem with Samba starting up on an Alpha running redhat 5.0 . It takes ages to load to of the services and the second times out with an error: Starting SMB services: smbd httpd: cannot determine local host name. Use ServerName to configure it manually. Anybody got any good ideas. I've read all the stuff I can find about samba but not had any luck. Matthew

summary( prcomp(*, tol = .) ) -- and 'rank.'
Following from the R-help thread of March 22 on "Memory usage in prcomp", I've started looking into adding an optional 'rank.' argument to prcomp allowing to more efficiently get only a few PCs instead of the full p PCs, say when p = 1000 and you know you only want 5 PCs. (https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2016-March/437228.html As it was mentioned, we already

Problem about SARMA model forcasting
Hello, Guys: I'm from China, my English is poor and I'm new to R. The first message I sent to R help meets some problems, so I send again. Hope that I can get useful suggestions from you warm-hearted guys. Thanks. I builded a multiplicative seasonal ARMA model to a series named "cDownRange". And the order is (1,1)*(0,1)45 The regular AR=1; regular MA=1; seasonal AR=0; seasonal

PCA prcomp problem
I've just starting using the prcomp function, and I want to be able to extract individual principal components (e.g. PC1, PC2) in vector format. I haven't been able to find any documentation that explains how to do this (or even if it is possible). Any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Deirdre Toher Teagasc National Food Centre

summary( prcomp(*, tol = .) ) -- and 'rank.'
I agree with Kasper, this is a 'big' issue. Does your method of taking only n PCs reduce the load on memory? The new addition to the summary looks like a good idea, but Proportion of Variance as you describe it may be confusing to new users. Am I correct in saying Proportion of variance describes the amount of variance with respect to the number of components the user chooses to show? So
