deleted share still seen
Hi,
I'm using Samba 2.0.7 and I'm experimenting with shares at the moment.
I created a share on my SuSE 6.4 box and accessed it from a Win2000 machine. Than I deleted this share entirely, and expected that I wouldn't be able to see it anymore from the win2000 box (after refreshing the view in windows explorer) but the opposite happened.
What could be the explanation and the

From UNIX to PC ?
We are now using samba for accesing to the UNIX resources from
our PC's. But my question is ...
WHERE can I find information on how to access to the PC
resources from our UNIX workstations?
Can somebody lead me through all of this amount of information
available about samba?
Thank you ,
David

embedded Samba
Does anyone know if Samba is being used on embedded devices as their SMB
protocol stack? I have seen new hard disk arrays ("the Snap It hard drive
or something like that") which is supposed to be MUCH more reliable than
actual "computer file servers" because it is just a hard drive with a small
embedded OS and web administration. NO OS HASSELS... I really like our new

Time Out's - Samba to Win95/98
cI'm New to the list.
I've been beating at Samba (the one shipped with redhat 5.2) for days
I can get the server to show up in network neighborhood
I can ping it.
If I wait long enough (few minutes) I can finally get it to respond to both ftp and telnets.
it's on a 10base-t cat5 configuration with just the server and the one w95 creating traffic.
If I double click the server name

Control characters with Samba/NT4.0
Dear List,
When we copy an ascii file from SunSolaris Samba server to NT4.0
workstation, the file is getting control characters at the end of each
line. Appreciate, if any clue given to solve this problem.
Regards.

Encrypted passwords and OS2/Win95/Win98
My LAN is running Samba v1.9.18p10 under RedHat Linux v5.2. Using the SMB
services are Win95 and OS/2 clients. It's all running fine.
I will soon be adding Win98, though, and I understand that there is a
question of password encryption. I'm concerned how the
encrypted/plain-text communication of password will affect my existing
configuration.
If I reconfigure Samba to use encrypted

Conditional SASL authentication
Hello,
I have a few users that are often hit by a trojan virus that steals
e-mail user and password. Having a very little (if not null) power on
their machines, I need to be able to block the outgoing mail wich is
handled by postfix via dovecot SASL.
Blocking it at dovecot level would be optimal, for the virus doesn't
necessarily use the e-mail of the user as its from, just the user and

Spurious ring burst on TDM400 FXS port
G'day all,
A weird problem has just started happening with my * server, and I've
googled myself stupid looking for help. My system is latest CVS, a
TDM400P with two FXS modules, two X101Ps, and VoIP connections (SIP, SCCP
& IAX2).
My wife complained about her extension (analogue, on one of the TDM400
ports) being dead -- no dialtone. I had to shut down *, then unload and
reload the

Unix/NT file conversion problems
Hi
We are having some problems - the majority of our files require ascii
transfers between our unix servers and PCs. They are however being
transferred as binary for some reason even though they are just plain
text files. This means (when going from unix to pc) the files come down
without a carriage return at the end of lines. And when going from pc to
unix they end up with ^M on the end of each
