Samba Gurus:
I just upgraded from samba-1.9.15p8 to samba-1.9.18p8 on one of our Sun

Strange file Behavior
Samba Masters:
I recently upgraded all of our Samba servers to 2.0.6. Previously, we had
several versions running all the way from 1.9.15p8 up to the current
release. Since the upgrade, there has been a strange problem reading text
files on one of the shares.
Here's the situation. The server is a Sun box with Solaris 2.5.1. A
program that runs on this machine writes a text file into a

Samba List:
Any idea why a directory containing 376 sub-directories would only show 162
sub-directories via Windows Explorer? The machine is a Sun Ultra 1 running
SunOS 5.5.1 and Samba 2.0.6.

Samba Masters:
I installed SP4 on a NT 4.0 workstation and now it cannot connect to any
samba shares. I reran the NT4_PlainPassword.reg script but that did not
fix the problem. Your suggestions / flames would be appreciated.
Thank You

Can't access Samba server from Windows NT
Samba Masters:
I have a couple of Windows NT machines (server and workstation) that are
having difficulty accessing a Samba server (1.9.17p4). When I try to
connect from the NT box to the Samba server I get the error message
"Account unauthorized to login from this station." The NT machines are not

Can't ping non-tinc host in subnet across VPN
Dear list,
I'm currently trying to simulate a VPN in a very simple configuration at home.
My normal home-net 192.168.0.0/24 serves as "the internet". Three test
machines are used, two of them connected to "the internet":
odin , external IP 192.168.0.100/24 on eth0
thor , external IP 192.168.0.101/24 on eth0
My VPN uses address space 10.0.0.0/8 in the following way:

error in smbpasswd (now in english, sorry)
Hi list,
We are mounting a PDC with samba+ldap. We are using samba2.2.5 and
ldap from complanet.ath.cx/nexxus. All things go well, all tests are ok.
Now we have to put our 4000 users in ldap and /etc/passwd, for this task
we make an ldif file (for ldap) and two little scripts for linux passwd
and samba smbpasswd set, see:
script caduser:
#!/bin/bash
#
# Adiciona usuarios

No Domain Controller, Please help to interpret tcpdump
Greetings!
I am still struggling with the issue that after vampiring from NT4
domain to Samba 3.0.7 with ldap backend, Windows XP cannot find the domain
controller.
In particular, WXP is an XP Prof which signed in AB_INITIO_DOM domain.
After the migration I put the Samba Server (Priscilla) and WXP in an
isolated network, and started up Priscilla as PDC for the network. But WXP
