The credentials supplied conflict with .....
Hi, I recently tried to connect to a samba share as my user name, and then disconnected the share to try and reconnect as root. I got the message "The credentials supplied conflict with an existing set of credentials". Someone recently mentionned that this was a security feature on the NT side. Well, seems Microsoft is claiming this is actually a bug. Found the following article in

Letter case not preserved
All files transferred to my Samba server end up with lower case on the Unix box. Case is not preserved from NT to Unix. For example, if I copy C:\Temp\MyFile to a directory on the Samba server, it ends up there as myfile. What am I missing? I browsed the FAQ's in the web pages, without success... Can't see my Samba workstation on browse list
I've been doing about three days of reading on this now, and I'm still pretty much at the same point. I just want my Samba machine to appear in the browse lists, like any other workstation. Questions: 1) My NT workstation had to join the domain and an account had to be created for it on the PDC. Must I create an account on the PDC for the Samba machine as well? (It would make sense,

[LLVMdev] Tool for run-time code generation?
I happen to be using LLVM for just this reason. I process large volumes of data records with schemas that are only known at runtime and/or can change dynamically as various transforms are applied to such records at various stages. To this end, I auto-generate C99 syntax at run time, parse it using clang, do some AST transformations, compile using LLVM JIT, and then execute within the same (C++)

dovecot dead but subsys locked
I'm running dovecot 20051026 version on Redhat4. I tried to do a stress test. However dovecot dies after I login a few hundred users. I have some error messages in my mail log and am not sure if they are related to the problem. [LLVMdev] Tool for run-time code generation?
Using C++ code, I would like to generate code at run-time (the same way .NET code can use dynamic methods or compiled expressions) in order to obtain very high performance code (to read binary data records whose formats are only known at run-time.) I need to target x86 (Win32) and ARM (WinCE). Can LLVM be used for this purpose, or would something else work better? Are there any open-source

SSHD with PAM question
Let me refine my previous question: > Can anyone provide some insight into why the auth-pam module uses a fork in > pthread_create (auth-pam.c)? Can anyone tell me how to #define USE_POSIX_THREADS when building --with-pam defined? The autoconfig stuff

Fstab mounting error
Hi all, I've googled on this but no luck so far. I'm using FC4. This works flawlessly: Mount -t smbfs //host/share /var/mount/hostname/sharename -o username=username,password=password,domain=DOMAIN,fmask=0777,dmask=0777 However, it fails in fstab when I do: //host/share /var/mount/hostname/sharename smbfs username=username,password=password,domain=DOMAIN,fmask=0777,dmask=0777 0 0

SSHD with PAM question
Greetings All, I am trying to get sshd to authenticate using PAM in a situation where there is no password entry (as found by getpwent et. al.) for a user. Setting: AllowUsers * UsePAM yes causes the right PAM stuff to be invoked, but as soon as the PAM module tries to have a conversation with the (illegal) user (in order to get the password) sshd throws out the authentication context.

Windows issue...
Hi all, I have been using RSYNC to backup data from a Windows XP box to a Linux box successfully for some time. Recently I tried to RSYNC from a Windows XP box to a Windows XP box. It does function. However when a file is deleted on the source, then RSYNC is performed, the destination does not DELETE the file. Is this a limitation of RSYNC on Windows? This is the command line I use to

hpa-tftp with xinetd
Good day, Just a quick question- could someone please confirm that this is the correct xinetd configuration (or not) for hpa-tftp? We've noticed that, when under moderate load hpa-tftpd resides in memory, even after there are no connections or even if xinetd is shut down. Under light load the server goes away after each connection, as desired. Thanks in advance! service tftp {

Questions about Preserving registers
Hi folks, I tried to use Mirosoft Fortran Powerstation 4.0 to create a dll file. However, when I used the command dyn.load(“test.dll”), I got the following message: NULL Warning message: DLL attempted to change FPU control word from 9001f to 90003 I read the instruction on Duncan Murdoch’s website about preserving registers, but I still don’t understand it. For example, 1. On first entry
