SAMBA 1.9.18p10 problem
I have been using Samba 1.9.18p8 in a Solaris 2.6 machine for months but suddenly this week there is a problem. Nothing's changed. I have some persistent connection of my NTSP3 client to the samba share. When I login as usual, it fails to mount the drive. It either prompt for password but whatever password the samba rejects, or give a "Access is Denied" when you try to access the

WIN 98 password problem
Hi! I'm new on the list, so please, be patient with me! I have a problem for wich I can't find the answer in the FAQ. Until recently I was running a 16 PC-s network with SCO OpenServer 5.0.4 and Samba 1.9.16p11 on the server and mixed clients (Win 3.11 to Win 95 OSR2). The users on the network have access to a PUBLIC directory on they own user directories on the server without

Win 98
I am using samba-1.9.16p2-2 on Linux. Have used it for about 2 years with no problems. None. I have several Win95 units that access it. I loaded Win98 on one of the units and now I can browse the directories but I cannot enter any directory that requires a password. Win98 reports that the password is incorrect. I might add that Win98 also gets stuck in one of Microsofts loops in that since it

Consistency of m-shapiro.test
Hello all, I tried several experiments with the mshapiro.test package in R and compared it with the energy package to test for multivariate normality and find that the mshapiro.test is not consistent which is a bit concerning and has suspicious behavior. On the other hand the energy test seems to be a more appropriate test for testing multivariate normality in any dimension. I looked for the

Hi, <new_listmember_intro> Name: Melvyn Sopacua Occupation: WebMaster Age: 32 Location: Netherlands </new_listmember_intro> after quite some digging, the user experience mentioned in brackets above, turned out to be ipv6 resolving problems. Is there any way to check the class of an ALTREP?
Thank Denes for the clarification, glad to see my package got one citation from my own question:) Also, thank Benjamin for sending many useful documents. Actually, the question is related to the SharedObject package that Benjamin has pointed to. I wanna avoid sharing an object that has already been shared, so I need to check whether an object is an ALTREP that is defined in my package. Since the

return (x+1) * 1000
I may be unusual but I don't find these examples surprising at all/ I don't think I would make these mistakes (maybe it's easier to make that mistake if you're used to a language where 'return' is a keyword rather than a function? My two cents would be that it would make more sense to (1) write code to detect these constructions in existing R code (I'm not good at

SAMBA digest 1846 -- WIN 98 password problem
To the Samba Developers :- Maybe you can allow for old+new methods of authentication in your newer releases :- <<psuedo-CODE>> // consider FIRST that the passwd passed is cleartext // then use old method... of NOT using smbpasswd for authentication. // I guess you would use that in the UNIX crypt system call & match with /etc/passwd // if that failed to authorize, DO

Samba4, problem with public resource
Hello Everyone, I've install Samba4, (Version 4.1.6 and Centos6). I configured the public resource for all users but the strange is that some users can't make operation (read, modify, delete) in the root path "/public", but these can inside for folder "/public/test" . In the "Computer Management -> Shared Folders -> Shares" I select the resource

return (x+1) * 1000
Without having dug into the details, it could be that one could update the parser by making a 'return' a keyword and require it to be followed by a parenthesis that optionally contains an expression followed by end of statement (newline or semicolon). Such a "promotion" of the 'return' statement seems backward compatible and would end up throwing syntax errors on:

I think it is clear that I am aware of the existence of the digest package and also of other packages with similar functionality, e.g. the fastdigest package. (And I actually do use digest as I guess 99% percent of the R developers do at least as an indirect dependency.) The point

Converting a list to a data frame
This is very nice to learn about, Denis, but it seems only fair to point out that the result of rbindlist is not a data frame. You can convert it to a data frame easily, but the copy and indexing semantics of data tables are quite different than data tables, which could be a real headache for someone not prepared for those differences. (To learn more, read the data tables vignette.) Tibbles (as
