Asterisk and Dial-Up ISP
Yes, I know this is lame, but my location limits me to using a dial-up ISP. I am running asterisk with a T100P and a TDM400 card. I currently have dial-on-demand setup on the same box, using diald and an external modem. To prevent DOD from trying to dial out during an external call, I have an AGI script kill diald before initiating a call, and then restart it at the end of the call by looking

SUMMARY: Samba 2.0 and passwords
I would like to see those of us who send an inquiry to this list also send a summary of what fixed the problem so that someone in the future could find the answer. I searched archives for an answer and only found questions. Since a lot of folks reply ot individuals then even the replies don't end up in the archives and so it would be nice if summaries were sent to the list. Anyway, enough

Win98 and Samba
Has any tried to connect to a samba server while using Win98 beta 2 as a client? I keep getting incorrect username/password errors in the samba log file and am unable to either map a drive or connect to a shared resource. With debug level set to 4 on the samba serve the main error seems to be error in packet at line 129 for cmd=117 (or something like that). If anyone else finds a fix for this,

Server disappears from Network Neighborhood
>From time to time someone will comment in this list that their Samba server has disappeared from the list of hosts in Network Neighborhood. Browsing the list archive has yet to turn up any good explanation of this phenomenon. I think I have a clue. This morning my server disappeared again. When I checked the process list on the server I noticed that nmbd had been swapped out to disk. The

What to do in Windows 95 after configuring Samba
Hello, I'm new to Samba so sorry for this trivial question. I've configured my smb.conf with all the shares and enabled WINS support. I wanted to know what do I have to configure in my windows 95 machine. My LAN setup is - one Linux Red Hat 6.0 machine Pentium 166 and a windows 95 machine a 486. I've made my Linux m/c the proxy server using Squid. Also whenever I boot my Win m/c it

Win95 client can see everyone but linux box
Hi, I'm lucky enough to have samba working fine on SuSE 8.0, sharing a printer with several windows computers. Earlier today I even had my new wireless card working on a Win95 laptop and it could see the whole network, and I wirelessly printed from my living room. COOL. Unfortunately, I screwed it up. The wireless card seems to conflict with the old pcmcia (wired) card and so I

Is it possible to map shares via Network Neighborhood?
We're running Samba 2.2.2 over an NT network. Our clients use Win95 (for the time being) and I wondered how we config Samba so they can map the shares using network neighborhood. We can map fine through MS-DOS, but when I try, for example, to map E drive to \\nfssrv\ads share via network neighborhood (where we ARE able to see the shares), it says E: is already connected to . Do you want

Samba not working
I have similar problem. However, I have noticed that without applying the sp3 on either NT4 workstation or Server. It seems to work fine. As soon as sp3 is applied the samba does not work. Error loggin in occurs. I remove tcpip support on nt and reinstalled, there was a conversion from winsock1.1 to winsock2.0. Also in the smb.conf there is a statement to the effect NOTCPDELAY, that word

Performance (?) problem with Samba and NT
I've seen this question asked on the list, but never answered. I've tried searching the archives, etc., but don't find anything relevant. I have a network with several Win95 and 98 client machines and one NT4 machine (NT Workstation, not Server). It's currently using Novell, but I've been testing a Samba server as a replacement. The 95 and 98 clients work fine. When I

Unwanted browselists
Is there a way to prevent browselists from machines other than those of my choosing to show up in the browselists/network neighbourhood? I don't want win95 clients that offer shares themselves to show up in the network neighbourhood. Michel. -- Michel van der Laan - michel@nijenrode.nl http://www.nijenrode.nl/~michel

Help wanted...
Long story short, I have a small LAN, a Red Hat 8.0 fileserver, a Win95 fileserver and 2 workstations, one Win98SE and the other is Red Hat 8.0. Using Samba as the common file system thread, I can access and play an MP3 file from the Win95 server using the RH workstation and it works fine. I can access and play an MP3 from Linux or Win95 server using the Windows workstation and that works

Network is busy...
I have done a great deal of reading regarding the network is busy error, but haven't come up with an answer for one particular problem. Here is the situation. Two identical DGUX machines are sitting on a network. Both machines are running Samba 1.9.10 with no problems other than performance. Upon several recommendations about improving performance, they decided to upgrade to 2.0.3.

Problem mapping drive names on Win95
Hi, in my Office, I'm trying to replace a Novell-server by a Linux-server. On the Novell-server, there is the SYS: volume. On this volume is a directory named DriveT. I did a map on it, so this SYS:DriveT was used as T: . If you link Excel sheets, which are stored on T:, to Word documents, Word unfortunately saves the UNC path, which is \\SERVER1\SYS\DRIVET instead of T: On my new Samba

Samba on RedHat 6.1
We're trying to get samba running on a RH 6.1 server installation, runnijng as a trial. So far we can only see the server on 2 NT 4/SP4 workstations and not on the Windows 95 clients, and then only if we do a Start/Find/Computers. I can map a drive to a share, and can reconnect to it after rebooting the NT workstation, but can't see the server in Network Neighborhood. TCP/IP is

Dial in accounts
Eric, I am busy trying to grasp the browse list concept. We have subnets and dial-in accounts. From what I have read you may have to get your Linux box act as aWINS server and have to dial-up user use the wins server to resolve names on the brows list. The browse list is updated every 12-15 minutes ao your dial-up account might not show upat first. This has caused me some trouble at first as I

Samba, WINS, many subnets, etc

Is it possible to declare the samba server as the WINS server for all machines (which can be done via DHCP), and then prime the running samba with an lmhosts generated via the DNS database? What would happen if a machine with a given IP tried to register itself with a different

Samba and Novell
WARNING Newbie question WARNING I am attempting to get Samba up and running. It is installed on a RH5.2 box, and everything went pretty well. I can see the samba box in Win95 network neighborhood, but I can's connect to it. I am suspecting that the Novell 4.1 box on our network is interfering. I can't seem to find a good document on samba/novell stuff, so any assistance would be
