status of undelete
Months ago there was a thread here about the implementation of a simple undelete-function (i.e: dont delete files, but move them to a folder). Is this this still a relevant idea or has this feature low priority ? thanx, peter ps: anyone knows about a 3rd-party software (propably on nt-side) that implements such a feature ? -- mag. peter pilsl phone: +43 676 3574035 fax : +43 676 3546512

Nonparametric Tukey-type multiple comparisons "Nemenyi" test
I am trying to do a Nonparametric Tukey-type multiple comparison post-hoc test to determine which groups are significantly different. I have read the dialogue on this topic from the R-help, and am still not clear why no statistical packages include this test as an option? Is it not an appropriate test to conduct on non-normally distributed data? Is the only option to calculate it by hand

Yes, you can: whenever you are unable to make a decent backup at least once a week, your diskspace must be considered to big. strange diskspace consuming
Hi, I do a tgz-backup some maildir-folders with n*1000 off files and a lot of GB in storage. The backuped maildirs are removed after the tar. My assumption was, that the free diskspace should be bigger after that, but from what I get with df, it looks like I'm loosing space. Currently the tgz is saved on the same disk/mountpoint. Any hint, why removing the maildirs dont free diskspace as

diskspace and diskinodes tag for openvz
Hi! as far as I understood from "xml format for openvz driver" thread available at [1] it should be possible to specify via libvirt disk size and disk inodes for openvz VM.But the following device section in VM xml description doesn't set disksize and diskinodes properly (it looks like those parameters are taken from default OpenVZ config and not as they are specified in

XCP - Reclaim diskspace from snapshots on xcp 1.0
Hi list, Saw that there''s a patch for xenserver 5.6fp1 which should fix this: http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX129267 Anybody know if/when this will happen on XCP? I have the same problem - disk usage remains the same after snapshot deletion - this is in the log on the pool master: vhd-util: libvhd::vhd_validate_footer: invalid footer cookie: ÇÇÇÇÇÇÇÇ This guy has the same

adding SAN "diskspace" to CentOS system residing on VMware
Hey, group, I've got a system installed on a VMware VM. The SAN administrator allocated me more disk space from the (EMC) SAN and I need ultimately to create another partition to mount on the filesystem. Two (initial) questions about this: What steps do I need to take prior to creating a new partition with fdisk? (The SAN space, BTW, is connected through VMware.) The OS is already

libtheora 1.0 alpha8 released, beta1 imminent
Hello, it's a great pleasure for me to announce the availability of libtheora alpha8 and the imminent availability of beta1. http://downloads.xiph.org/releases/theora/libtheora-1.0alpha8.tar.gz alpha8 brings a completely new decoder (feature complete, lifted from derf's theora-exp) and additional control over the encoder (applications now can specify their own set of quantization

python: listing samba shares
I've been googling that for a long time, but couldn't find an answer. I also checked the python-samba Debian (ubuntu) package contents and even compiled samba 4.0.0 alpha8, and checked its python libraries, but couldn't find anything regarding viewing the shares contents there. Is it possible to list samba shares and their contents of a particular host?

no logging in auth.log when using wrong ssh keys
I have in the sshd_config the following to disable password authentication Match Group dummies PasswordAuthentication no KbdInteractive no Normally I use denyhosts to detect incorrect logins, but it seems that failed sshkey logins are not logged in auth.log And I really like to have them in order to detect them and use the denyhosts script. Looked in the last nightly builds, but it

Windows offline files synchronization failure for mounted Samba drive.
Windows offline files synchronization fails for mounted Samba drive unless files are "owned" by the user performing the synchronization. You can duplicate this problem by making a folder or file which is located on a samba mounted drive available offline. 1) From windows Explorer on a Windows XP SP2 Machine connected to the network samba drive, right click on a test file

Centos 7.0 and mismatched swap file
Everyone, I am putting together a new mail server for our firm using a SuperMicro with Centos 7.0. When performed the install of the os, I put 16 gigs of memory in the wrong slots on the mother board which caused the SuperMicro to recognize 8 gigs instead of 16 gigs. When I installed Centos 7.0, this error made the swap file 8070 megs instead of what I would have expected to be a over 16000

Failed to connect NT workstation to Samba2.0alpha8
Hi Folks, I downloaded Samba2.0alpha8 from Samba site. Compiled it and installed it on the Solaris 2.6 unix box. I set up domain logon for both Windows 98 clients and WinNT. There is no problem logging on from Windows98 and the shares are all working alright. Then, I followed Samba NTDOM FAQ and add the NT workstation name into /etc/passwd and smbpasswd (using smbpasswd -a -m

Data is Copying when a new brick is added.
== Data Copying when a new brick is added. == Hi. I'm a first time glusterfs user, and I'm trying to simulate what will happen when I need to add more bricks for storage capacity. My config files are below but I'll try and explain what is going on. I have 2 machines with 2 hard drives in each. I created a replicated storage system where machine a replicates to machine b.
