Connecting to Samba through Windows 95
Hi all: I have setup Samba on our Solaris server with user based security (though the usernames on the Solaris box differ from our NT/Win95 usernames). Everything seems to work well when I connect from an NT client (4.0) since it asks for a "connect as" string (username), but on 95, I cannot seem to specify a username (and therefore cannot gain access to the server). Is there anyway

username map problem
Hi, I am running version 1.9.18p8 on Solaris 2.6 connecting to NT 4.0 sp3. When I am logged in as administrator I can't connect to any samba share. My username map contains just "root = Administrator" and my smb.conf file has the following entries: password level = 2 security = server encrypt passwords = yes password server = ntsrv002 ntsrv003 username map =

The credentials supplied conflict with .....
Hi, I recently tried to connect to a samba share as my user name, and then disconnected the share to try and reconnect as root. I got the message "The credentials supplied conflict with an existing set of credentials". Someone recently mentionned that this was a security feature on the NT side. Well, seems Microsoft is claiming this is actually a bug. Found the following article in

Can't see my Samba workstation on browse list
I've been doing about three days of reading on this now, and I'm still pretty much at the same point. I just want my Samba machine to appear in the browse lists, like any other workstation. Questions: 1) My NT workstation had to join the domain and an account had to be created for it on the PDC. Must I create an account on the PDC for the Samba machine as well? (It would make sense,

Antw: Re: STATUS_SHARE_VIOLATION when Read while Write on GPFS + CTDB
Hello Volker, I was able to get those level 10 logs - spitted by machine. Unfortunately I don't know how attachments behave - Groupwise seems not to be happy with those - so I try the redundant way: Here are the logfiles for this event (only one machine, one try): https://www.bitmammut.de/WDR/log.klnmszap32 In this file there are about 3 occurrences of the

PATCH: Samba/Win2K renaming bug
Hi there. I'm running Samba 2.2.3a on RedHat 7.1 + kernel 2.4.17. My girlfriend's laptop is running Windows 2000 + service pack 2. She has about a thousand MP3s stored on a Samba share on my RedHat machine. We were finding that she couldn't rename any MP3s on the Samba share: she would always get a sharing violation. After a day of reading Samba logs at debug 10 (_such_ fun [ ;)

Missing p-values using lmer()
Hello, I’m trying to perform a REML analysis using the lmer() function (lme4 package). Well, it seems to work well, except that I’m not getting any p-value (see example below). Can someone tell me what I did wrong? Thanks for your help, Amélie > library(gdata) > dive <- read.xls("C:/Documents and Settings/Amelie/My Documents/Postdoc/CE 2005-2006/divebydive.xls",

Samba, NT, and transient network failures
We've recently completed an internal eval of products to server Unix filesystems from our Unix fileservers to our NT clients via SMB. We evaluated two products, one of them was Samba 1.9.18pl10, the other was a commercial product. We've selected Samba. We had been using the commercial product for some time. All is great, fine, dandy. But, as a result of our experience with the

EFI: HP + syslinux = crash [ brown paper bag update ]
Update: I added my debugging stuff (just a bunch of Print()s and dprintf()s) to the branch without the multinic fix to see if I could find a common cause somewhere. This is based on commit 8702009f. Where I expected the machine to crash again, it just exited back to the bootloader without crashing. So.. somehow adding this debug code solved the crashing problem? Or did it? Then I went back

More checks for param/loadparm.c
Here's a second set of diffs for sanity-checking smb.conf files. This one implements a basic set of checks on netbios names. No, it won't recognize someone using an ip address, but it will realize the dots don't belong: $ testparm Load smb config files from /usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf WARNING: netbios name "127.0.0.1" contained a dot, which is only legal in DNS domain
