getting started with SAMB - I think
I have NT 4.0 , Solaris x86 2.5 , and RedHat Linux 5.0 on my work computer. The Building uses NT 4.0 as its network. about 3000 users I want to just to be able to use NT 4.0 printers from unix, and also, but I don't think it's possible, hook up with MicroSoft Exchange Server to get to my E-Mail from UNIX. I can use Netscape from both UNIX'es above.

Samba 4.11.6 cannot JOIN - 'Could not find machine account'
Thanks for the help with this, Rowland. > Where these 2008 DCs upgraded from an earlier version ? (2000, 2003) Yes, the two Windows servers were migrated over the years to Server 2008 (one is 2008 R2). I've now moved the _msdcs folder and made it a zone in the forest, restarted NETLOGON, and set the functionality of the forest to Server 2008, then rebooted both windows servers. This

Samba 4.11.6 cannot JOIN - 'Could not find machine account'
A small update... I was able to remove the "Cannot reach a KDC" errors by disabling Apparmor. However, the original WERR_DNS_ERROR_RCODE_NAME_ERROR error remains and is now the first error in the log. > Thanks for the help with this, Rowland. > > > Where these 2008 DCs upgraded from an earlier version ? Cannot retrieve user/group information
Hi all, I have done a fair bit of searching of the mailing list archives, google and the manual, but have not had any luck as yet. I apologize for the length of this e-mail, but I thought it was better to provide what I could right off the bat instead of waiting to be asked for it. I am having the following oddity with a new samba server: I have it configured to talk to an

Migration from mbox/maildir++ to mdbox
Dear list, dovecot version: 2.1.7 I have an old mail server that uses mboxes for the INBOX and maildirs for subfolders. I want to migrate our mail handling to a new setup using mdboxes for everything. The current config looks like this: # 2.1.7: /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf doveconf: Warning: service anvil { client_limit=1000 } is lower than required under max. load (1127) # OS: Linux

Segfault while calling fexact in C
Hi folks, I'm trying to call an R function (fisher.test) in my program for like a billion times! Though my program is in Python and I feel that using rpy2 to interface R to python doesn't give me satisfactory performance. So I looked into R code and found out that fisher.test is actually a wrapper around another function called fexact which is implemented in C. Using Cython I managed to

CentOS bootstrapper for chroot(2) environment
Hi, just some script built along: Unattended install & run CentOS-4.1 just using chroot(1). Mostly a surprise for me it was so easy to reach that goal. It requires rpm(1) based host OS and it was tested only on Fedora Core 4. I needed it to do only a bit customized CentOS kernel package rebuild. Regards, Lace -------------- next part -------------- #! /bin/bash # Bootstrap for: CentOS-4.1

NIS passwd and paswd.byname map encryption
Hello listmates. It appears that in order to authenticate a Mac OS X Lion client via NIS the passwords in passwd and passwd.byname maps need to be MD5 encrypted. How do I see what encryption has been used in my maps? How do I change it? Thanks. Boris.

Dear Help Desk, Is there any way to change some of the labels on R diagrams? Specifically in histograms, I would like to: 1. change the word frequency to count. 2. Make the font of the title (Histogram of …) smaller. 3. Have a different word below the histogram than the one occurring in the title (right now if you choose X for your

I created a new .wine directory and typed #wine iexplore.exe Then it tries to download the Mozilla ActiveX PlugIn and this is where the problem starts: The download window shows, but it doesn't start the download. I am sitting behind a proxy server (no authorisation needed), and the proxy is setup correctly: ftp_proxy=ftp://proxy.sun.ac.za:3128

R-2.6.0 - packages installation through a proxy - not working
Hello everyone, I run R on Gentoo Linux and this week I upgraded R from 2.5.0 to 2.6.0. With the new build, I have stumbled upon an unpleasant problem: I can no longer install packages from CRAN through a transparent proxy. With the previous version, I simply added to /usr/lib/R/etc/Renviron the following line and it functioned like a charm: ## Proxy settings http_proxy="SERVER:3128"

[PATCH 3/3] builder: Use the new Curl module for passing parameters to curl.
These are now passed using a curl configuration file, which is a little bit safer than using command lines. virt-builder doesn't need to pass usernames and passwords to curl, but if it ever does in future this will be a lot safer. --- builder/Makefile.am | 1 + builder/builder.ml | 6 +-- builder/downloader.ml | 94

[PATCH] customize: Use setarch when running commands on i686 guest (RHBZ#1256405).
When running (eg) dnf on a 32 bit i686 guest when the host is 64 bit x86_64, dnf believes it is running on a 64 bit machine and so tries to install x86_64 packages. We can 'trick' dnf into believing it's a 32 bit machine using the setarch program. $ virt-builder fedora-22 --arch i686 --install 'gperf' ... [ 27.4] Installing packages: gperf ... Installing oVirt on 32bit dual core server with Fedora Core 12
Hi, My setup is 1 management server and 1 server for virtual guests. The management server is an old dual core 32bit machine, the virtual guests server will be a dual quad core Dell server (until someone needs it back for production stuff :) ) This install is for the 32bit management server. First did a basic install of F12 without any X stuff in it Made sure /etc/selinux/config is in
