Letter case not preserved
All files transferred to my Samba server end up with lower case on the Unix box. Case is not preserved from NT to Unix. For example, if I copy C:\Temp\MyFile to a directory on the Samba server, it ends up there as myfile. What am I missing? I browsed the FAQ's in the web pages, without success... fitting a confined mixture model
Hello all, I would like to fit a mixture model whose components are normal distributions confined in a closed interval. Since there are already several packages for EM, I would like to extend one of these instead of writing a new script from scratch. What would be the best way to customize such an existing package for doing that? Which one is the best in terms of extensibility? (e.g mixtools,

model based clustering with flexmix
Hello all, I am trying to fit a truncated mixture model and I wrote a driver for flexmix following the example in the vignette, but it doesn't work for me: it assigns all data points to one component only, e.g.: > > source('bugged.R') > > Call: > flexmix(formula = x ~ 1, k = 2, model = truncatedmodel(lower = -4, > upper = 4)) > > prior size

STATUS_SHARE_VIOLATION when Read while Write on GPFS + CTDB
Hi, in the following scenario I've got the Problem of "STATUS_SHARE_VIOLATION". Client A (with User 1) copies a file to share X. (with: DENY_NONE 0x120196 WRONLY NONE) Client B (with User 1) reads this file from share X (with: DENY_NONE 0x120089 RDONLY NONE) Now Client C (with User 1) wants also to read this file from share X and gets the STATUS_SHARE_VIOLATION.

Antw: Re: STATUS_SHARE_VIOLATION when Read while Write on GPFS + CTDB
Hello Volker, I was able to get those level 10 logs - spitted by machine. Unfortunately I don't know how attachments behave - Groupwise seems not to be happy with those - so I try the redundant way: Here are the logfiles for this event (only one machine, one try): https://www.bitmammut.de/WDR/log.klnmszap32 In this file there are about 3 occurrences of the

Missing p-values using lmer()
Hello, I’m trying to perform a REML analysis using the lmer() function (lme4 package). Well, it seems to work well, except that I’m not getting any p-value (see example below). Can someone tell me what I did wrong? Thanks for your help, Amélie > library(gdata) > dive <- read.xls("C:/Documents and Settings/Amelie/My Documents/Postdoc/CE 2005-2006/divebydive.xls",

EFI: HP + syslinux = crash [ brown paper bag update ]
Update: I added my debugging stuff (just a bunch of Print()s and dprintf()s) to the branch without the multinic fix to see if I could find a common cause somewhere. This is based on commit 8702009f. Where I expected the machine to crash again, it just exited back to the bootloader without crashing. So.. somehow adding this debug code solved the crashing problem? Or did it? Then I went back

High Load Average on POP/IMAP.
Hi, We have a serious issue running on our POP/IMAP servers these days. The load average of a servers spikes up to 400-500 as a uptime command result, for a particular time period , to be specific mostly in noon time and evening, but it last for few minutes only. We have 2 servers running dovecot 1.1.20 , in loadbanlancer, We have used KEEPLIVE (1.1.13) for loadbalacing. Server

Narrow escape with FAULTED disks
Nothing like a "heart in mouth moment" to shave tears from your life. I rebooted a snv_132 box in perfect heath, and it came back up with two FAULTED disks in the same vdisk group. Everything an hour on Google I found basically said "your data is gone". All 45Tb of it. A postmortem of fmadm showed a single disk failed with smart predictive failure. No indication why the

[LLVMdev] RFC: Reduce the memory footprint of DIEs (and DIEValues)
With just those four patches, memory usage went *up* slightly. Add in the 5th patch (which does #2 below), and we get an overall memory drop of 4%. The intermediate result of a memory increase makes sense. While the first four patches reduce the number of (and size of) `DIEValue` allocations, they increase the cost of the `SmallVector` overhead. 0005 (attached) squeezes the abbreviation data

Why 95% "quantile" empty in R or why 95% "quantile" = 1 with data values between 0 and 1?
I am calling quantiles as follows. I don't understand why sometimes the columns (data values) above 95% are returned as "NULL"!! When I drop the percentile down to 92%, I see colums appearing. Why would any quantile be empty? I see sometimes that 95% percentile is being chosen as "1" for my data between 0 and 1, where obviously there's no column value equal to 1. But

Graphs in Windows 95/95
Dear R-Listers, I'm a new R user and I've got some problems with copying/saving graphs in Windows Metafile Format. If I copy a graph from the R window (in Enhanced Metafile Format) and then paste it in WinWord 95, then everything is fine, apart from the fact that a) lines become a little bit thicker when the graph is printed; and b) dotted lines loose a little bit of resolution. However,
