1.9.18p8 won't act as PDC
I'm running Samba 1.9.18p8 on a RedHat5.1 system. Shares are going cleanly, but domain logons are not. I have an NT box, but as it is for a dedicated app, not for servers, I simply shut it down while testing samba's PDC functionality. I'll turn PDC off on the NT box as soon as I get samba doing domain controlling. I recently posted this problem with subject line: Samba 1.9.18p7-2

Samba 1.9.18p7-2 PDC & netlogon? or p8? or wait?
I have a linux system running Samba 1.9.18p7-2 smoothly right now, with perhaps 600 users. I have an NT box with 2 users, for a dedicated application, which is a PDC right now. I have ~300 Win95 client machines that I want to have do a domain login, authenticating off the samba box (running RedHat 5.1, btw) so that I don't have to replicate users onto the NT box when all they really need to

Improper listening on IMAPS
I want Dovecot handling IMAPS. /etc/dovecot.conf: protocols = imaps imaps_listen = * ssl_disable = no ssl_cert_file = /etc/ssl/certs/dovecot.pem ssl_key_file = /etc/ssl/private/dovecot.pem The problem is that Dovecot is not listening on 993 port, or there's something listening on 993, but it does not introduce itself. There's no problem if Dovecot listens on 143 (IMAP). When

data set size question
Hi there, I'm very new to R and am only in the beginning stages of investigating it for possible use. A document by John Maindonald at the r-project website entitled "Using R for Data Analysis and Graphics: Introduction, Code and Commentary" contains the following paragraph, "The R system may struggle to handle very large data sets. Depending on available computer memory, the

dynamic IPSEC: Holy grail sighted
Hi, Thanks to some pointers from Christian Kratzer, I am now able to join the office VPN from a random WiFi hotspot. With the configuration files changes detailed below, from a public WiFi hotspot I can now use this 3 step procedure to login to the office VPN. 1) While at hotspot, boot up my -STABLE laptop. 2) Insert wireless card. 3) "rsh server" This procedure works for a DHCP

Disable SIS
Hi, I'm currently running a small home-server with Dovecot. A long time ago I configured it with SIS enabled. I would like to stop using SIS. If I remove sis from mail_attachment_fs will the old mails that are stored in SIS-storage still be accessible? How can I convert all mailboxes to stop using SIS and store attachments back in the mails? Rgds, N.

CircStats reveals underlying R bug?
circ.plot in CircStats under R 1.8.0 yields incorrect plots (easily compare hist() and rose.diag()). However, the code in circ.plot has not changed. Has anyone tracked this down yet?
