Hi all: After a little more ad hoc testing (and looking at the log files again) I have a little more info, though not a solution yet. I'm starting to get the feeling that it's something obvious I've missed... What bothers me is that samba is filling up my log files with a lot of extraneous/fake entries about authentication failures.
