Network Neighborhood comment fields and Samba
Hi all,
I'm using Samba 1.9.18p8 under Solaris 2.5.1. Within my smb.conf file
I am using the 'netbios aliases' option to make my server appear as 4
different servers with an smb.conf.%L to load the specifics of each:
netbios aliases = hardware software diagnostics homedirs
include = /usr/local/samba/var/smb.conf.%L
The problem I'm encountering is that the only comment I see

security=server and need to have users at linux too
Hi everybody,
I have set up a Linuxbox with Samba and security=server in smb.conf.
So far this works, the users are authenticated on the NT-Server as they
shuold but then they´re mapped to guest user. When I create the User on my
linux box with the same username as on the NT-Server it works OK, no matter
what password this user has on the linux box.
The real problem is, that I don´t like the Idea

WIN 98 password problem
Hi!
I'm new on the list, so please, be patient with me!
I have a problem for wich I can't find the answer in the FAQ. Until
recently I was running a 16 PC-s network with SCO OpenServer 5.0.4 and
Samba 1.9.16p11 on the server and mixed clients (Win 3.11 to Win 95
OSR2). The users on the network have access to a PUBLIC directory on
they own user directories on the server without

Problems with sftp under SCO OpenServer
Hello,
I compiled OpenSSH 2.5.1p1 for SCO OpenServer 5.0.5, HPUX B.11.00, and
SunOS 5.7. When I sftp into the HP or Sun box, everything works fine.
However, whenever I sftp into the OpenServer box, all remote filenames
are shown as "(null)". File sizes, owners, etc. display properly. This
behavior is exhibited from all origination points.
OpenSSH was configured with identical

Test snapshots
Could eveyone please give the latest snapshots a test? I have just
pulled in some more OpenSSL libc code to support globbing in the sftp
client. It works OK on the platforms that I have access to, but that
isn't many...
Report success/failure and host (as reported by configure).
Thanks.

Daily snapshots...
All,
How can I get at the daily snapshots?
When I go to the website, www.openssh.com, and follow the Linux
link to portable.html and then go to request the daily snapshot from
http://bass.directhit.com/openssh_snap/, I get prompted for a user id
and password. Needless to say, I ain't got.
That's real useful. Use to be, I could get the snapshots from
the ftp site. Then things

Most likely to do with the way that Win95 tries to access directories.
Rename your directories to all lower case, and my guess is you'll resolve
the problem. You can force lowercase names (this has been our solution here)
or you can

Lets try this push again.. 2.5.1p2 bugs left.
Things that are still outstanding:
1) Solaris/Redhat/HPUX session.c patch. I've not seen a ya or na on
Kevin's pam patch from the Solaris group.
2) Odd Redhat/Debian scp/ssh issues. .. I'm baffled, and I can't
replicate the bug. Nor have I seen anything remotely like it reported.
3) SCO.. Is it happy yet for compiling? =)

samba main cvs branch seems to be broken on 64-bit boxes.....
hi there :)
the code in util.c seems to have some bugs w/regard to compilation on
64-bit machines. in this case, the hardware is an Alpha running redhat
4.2 with pam turned off in the makefile.
i get a whole series of errors, all of which say "passing arg 'n' of
'function' from incompatible pointer type. in util.c, checked out of the
main branch the day before yesterday,

Conflict between LDAP and Privilege Separation?
Hi all.
OpenSSH_4.1p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7g 11 Apr 2005 on Solaris 8 using host-based
authentication.
With "PrivilegeSeparation yes" and "UsePAM no" everything works as
desired. If I enable PAM, I am able to connect, but just before it
gives me a shell, it disconnects. If I leave PAM enabled and disable
PrivilegeSeparation, it works.
Is this a current limitation, or is there

Question about BUILTIN\Administrators and BUILTIN\Users nested groups in 3.3.3
Sorry about the dumb question:
Are the "BUILTIN\Administrators" and "BUILTIN\Users" local (nested) groups
supposed to be populated with DOMAINNAME\Domain Administrators and
DOMAINNAME\Domain Users (respectively) by default? If I download the Redhat
Samba package, they are populated. Not so with a compiled version.
I've had a helluva time populating BUILTIN\Administrators

use variable in for loop to name output files
Hi,
This question should be simple to answer. I am a new R user.
I have a data.frame called appended. I would like to break it into 7 smaller
datasets based on the value of a categorical variable dp (which has values
1:7). I would like to name the smaller datasets set1, set2, set3,....,set7.
I don't know how to refer to the variable in the for loop, when naming the
output datasets. In STATA
