Logon Musings
I'm toying with the idea of writing a Samba-oriented Win95/98/NT logon
window. I know it's possible to replace Windows' logon mechanism with
another. Novell's Client32 does this. I know there's also standards to
make a network service available to Windows' change-password mechanism
(so I can fire smbpasswd on the other side). That could be an
alternative to establishing

unicode variable and function names?
Dear List,
Is it possible to have function names like ? (unicode universal quantifier)?
This question is inspired by agda source code, which supports this.
http://www.cs.nott.ac.uk/~nad/listings/lib-0.4/Algebra.html
It would be handy to use. My guess is, however, that it's not supportet in R.

Hi
I have a GE Digital Energy Match UPS 1500
where i previously successfully used the victronups driver.
However after i upgraded from debian woody to debian sarge
and thus from 1.4.2 to 2.0.1, then upsstats.cgi says
Model not supportet, status online
My syslog says

Cisco 7940: showing FWD in display.
Hello all,
this may be slightly offtopic :-)
I have some Cisco 7940 phones with SIP firmware, connected to an
Asterisk 1.2.18-BRIstuffed-0.3.0-PRE-1y-g (HorstBox Pro with custom
extensions.conf).
On some of the phones, two lines are configured, one for business, one
for private calls.
When forwarding a line to another destination (e.g. to voicemail), we
can't use the phone's own

New Open Source CTI client for Asterisk
Hallo everybody,
today i've released the very first (and very alpha :-) version of ABCTI,
a CTI solution
for Asterisk written in python, using pyGTK and py-Asterisk. It talks
directly to the
Manager API, so no additional software is required on the Asterisk server.
You can find it on Sourceforge as
http://abcti.sourceforge.net
Basic functionality is already there: Originate, Transfer,

Multiple frequencies
Hi!
I'm having a small problem with an assignment I have to do.
We want to do an anova on some values, given for four
different types of medicine. The different sample numbers are
not identical (eg for molecule A we have 8 values, for B we have
14, etc.).
What would the most elegant way of getting this info into R
to do an lm be? I usually try to use data.frames but R

Newbie
Hi
I started studying Bioinformatics at my engineering school (INSA de
lyon!) in september. We started learning statistics and did two classes
of R hands-on, but I want to learn to use R better. (As in for my every
day calculations - I'm in front of a computer anyway so why should I
have to take out my TI-30?) I'm having trouble finding some of the
simpler stat functions though.

AW: AW: packets and OGG pages

OK, so given the fact that a page can also contain multiple packets this
means that the lacing values of one page could be like the following example:
255

189 (something less than 255, indicating that a new packet starts

A little problem
Hello, samba
I have configured samba in my net, and it works well. From computers in
the same sub-net, using w95, in the "Network Area" they can see the samba
server.
However, from computers in other nets, I can connect with "Connect to net
unit", but I can't see the server in th "Network Area".
What's the problem?
Sorry for my bad English

Ugly menu/dialog font of applications, using debian sarge and wine 0.9.8 and 0.9.22
hello,
I have a problem with an unsuitable font in the
windows menus/dialogs with the above versions of wine
(dont think this depends much on the versions, though.
Have not tried other versions so far.) when using
debian sarge.
The font seems to look a bit ugly, usually destroys
partly the menu/dialog structures, and, most
important, has no German umlaut's (the diphtongs ae,

Is there any way to display numbers with comma as decimal

Thanks for any suggestion,

floppy problems after DOS booting with dos.bss and syslinux 3.xx
Hello,
I'm Rene living in Germany.
I have a problem when I use syslinux versions greater
than 3.xx for booting DOS (over dos.bss) and DSL-linux
from a hard disk. (I've tried version 3.11 and the
newest 3.36). The problem occurred after booting DOS -
I can not access to the ordinary 3.5'-floppy drive
(e.g. the command "dir a:" fails after a while). DOS
not even notices
