Can I specify a different username under Win95???
Hi all -
I have the latest samba up and running fine except for one small
problem. The username I use to log into the NT domain is different than
the username I log into samba with. I have no control over the former,
and would *really* rather not change the latter.
I've searched the net, and the archives, and got only saw bits and pieces
of this issue, never quite fully answered.

[PATCH] Group mapping primary group SID update
Hi all !
This is a patch for Group mapping bug #1 reported here :
http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2004-January/034057.html
It activates users' primary group SID update when adding/modifying/deleting a
group mapping. It patches utils/net_groupmap.c (net_groupmap_add,
net_groupmap_modify, net_groupmap_delete) and can be applied to samba-3.0.2rc1.

I was thinking to the folowing solution, but i don't know if it is

Thanks for an excellent rsync!
I had occasion this morning to apply rsync to another task. As usual,
the docs were informative, the functionality I needed was easily
supported, and rsync worked like a charm.
Of course, all this is the result of a lot of hard work by the rsync
developers, especially Wayne. I decided it would be good to publicly
acknowledge this, lest we all take it for granted.
To summarize, from rsync we

Errors encountered with 1.9.18p10 Makefile
To whom it may concern:
here are the diffs which I required to make the mentioned Makefile work.
I maintain several platforms of samba servers, and thus use the VPATH
option in the Makefile. I've been fixing installscripts.sh as well,
so that `make install` works when run from my build directory.
I'm assuming SAMBA v2.x will migrate to autoconf/configure and should
fix these issues, but

getent passwd blank response
I have an issue that "getent passwd SAMDOM\usrname" returns a blank
response.
Running "getent passwd" returns all the local users.
I cannot determine if the libnss-winbind symbolic links exist.
This is a member server running Debian 10 with Samba v4.12.5 via Louis'
repos.
The Sambawiki /Libnss winbind Links/ page shows Debian x86_64 source

Tridge wins Bulletin mag's Smart 100 Award
Details aren't up on ninemsn.com.au/bulletin yet, but I just picked up the
paper version, and Tridge has won the Bulletin Smart 100 award in the
category of IT & Communications for his work on Samba & rsync.
If you happen to read this, well done Tridge!

[patch] user@host in AllowUsers
This is a port of a patch I contributed to ssh 1.2.23 in May 1998. I
have missed the functionality after moving to OpenSSH so I have
updated the patch and hope OpenSSH might accept it.
The patch allows sshd_config to have lines like:
AllowUsers root at localhost
AllowUsers tridge@*
AllowUsers guest at 192.168.2.*
DenyUsers badguy@*
etc.
I found this useful for restricting users to only login
