Not only because it's not a config. file; mainly because many embedded systems actually have most of the FS read-only and have only the /tmp, /var and /run writable... When I tried to change the samba password using smbpasswd program ( from a non root account whic I use) I got an error messgae saying that it cannot change the password. So I stumbled across an issue that I think is a bit fundamental: The xray runtime uses the C++ standard library. This seems like a problem because whatever C++ standard library is used to compile the XRay runtime may not be the same as the C++ standard library (if any) that is used to build the target application and link XRay into. I seem to have some issues coming to terms with the new smbprint configuration. Not that it is all that new, but I have worked on a ton of AIX Samba systems that are runing 1.9.x and the smbprint worked great in all aspects. The box's couldn't be upgraded (or so said the company that did application builds related to Samba). The printers were and are hosted from windows95 workstations
