New Samba stable release - 1.9.17p5
The Samba Team are pleased to announce Samba 1.9.17p5.
This is a patch release designed to fix the few bugs that
users had reported with our last stable release, 1.9.17p4.
This release adds no new functionality, and if you
were not impacted by the bugs then there is no need
to upgrade from 1.9.17p4.
Note however, that *all* users should upgrade to at

samba, RedHat and Windows XP Home
Howdy. I'm running samba-3.0.2-2 (from the binaries on samba.org) on a
RedHat 9 box with kernel 2.4.20-28.9.
I can access shares from my Windows XP Home box, but the performance
isn't very good. When I looked into this, I discovered that apparently
the connections are getting dropped, over and over again, which causes a
lot more work, I'm sure. Here's a snippet from my main

A make problem with Samba 2.2.4
Hi,
I've downloaded Samba 2.2.4 today and attempted to install it on our Compaq
AlphaServers running Compaq Tru64 v5.1A. It configures OK, but "make"
produces a few serious looking warnings. I've captured both "./configure"
and "make" to the attached text file.

I am getting the following errors when compiling SAMBA 2.2.4 on HP-UX 11.00.
