smbclient 3.5.6 potential bug: 100-character filenames not extracted properly from tar
Hello Samba folks, I have come across a problem with smbclient 3.5.6 when I use the tar 'x' feature. Pathnames that work out to be 100 characters long are extracted incorrectly: bash-3.2$ tar tvf ugh.tar -rw-r--r-- bdavis/Domain Users 137 2012-12-07 13:36:40 a50characterpathnameABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZABCD/a49characterpathnameABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZABC -rw-r--r-- bdavis/Domain Users

Compile Samba for Windows Use - SMBClient.exe mainly
I have an odd use case where I need to get the Samba Client (SMBClient.exe) compiled for use on a Windows 2012 server to access another Windows 2012 Server through SMB. I have scoured the internet, posted to forums, and even emailed authors that have compiled older version of Samba with no luck. For example Lee Peckham complied just the client and posted it here:

Compile Samba for Windows Use - SMBClient.exe mainly
Unfortunately that’s not going to be an option. I'm using a cloud sharing software package called Pydio and it was originally written for *nix platforms. I got it running amazingly well on a 2012 R2 server with IIS 8.5 but there is no built in way to access another server share from the platform other than FTP over SSH or Samba. Again it was written for *nix so those options make sense.

NTLMv2 and smbclient
Hi,d When trying ntlm auth = no on one of my samba servers it broke all my monitoring because smbclient failed to negotiate. After troubleshooting I found that it was not trying ntlmv2 as it should so I set client ntlmv2 auth = yes and then retried. It worked. However, other samba servers failed to connect (notably those using share level security) as it wanted lanman auth. So I set

Questions about some Ethereal/log output and spoolss
My user observable errors seem to now be gone but I am seeing some behavior that may need to be looked at. There are error messages in Ethereal and in the logs like "_spoolss_getprinterdataex: Invalid keyname [DsDriver]". First I'll give the brief history and then more details below. I started a new install on FreeBSD 5.1 using samba 2.2.8. I compiled with CUPS (1.1.19). Printer is

smbclient -M "connection fails"
Hello, I've been trying to get the smbclient -M to work but I'm running into some troubles. I want from a Linux box to display one of those popups, I can get a few command to work fine which is where my issue is: The windows machine I'm trying to send it to is 10.10.10.168 (or ENGS1004 NetBIOS name). When I do: smbclient -U fling%password -L ENGS1004.switchnet.nv

Keep-timestamp-in-`get'-patch for smbclient in samba-2.0.3
-------- --Multipart_Thu_Apr__8_13:33:51_1999-1 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Hello guys, I always wondered why smbclient keeps timestamp in `put'ting a file but does not keep it in `get'ting a file. Alternative to keep the time stamp in `get'ting file is to use -Tc option or smbtar script, but they are a bit hairy for interactive use, and it can only dump files with an

bug in smbclient (?) 4.2.x
I posted this to the amanda-users ml earlier today, as I run several amanda backup servers and hit this issue again today. -> "I have to upgrade to samba-4.2.11 (gentoo linux) on an amanda server running amanda-3.4.1 Does anyone know if this: http://www.backupcentral.com/forum/16/263253 ... is still an issue?" -| my interpretation: samba-4.2.11 / smbclient has problems with

2.2.8pre1 smbclient log in problem
Hi all samba coders. Glad to see that you work to improve samba. Here is a problem I would be very greatful if you could solve. Certain international characters does not work as usernames when trying to log in to an NT4 file server. My problem is that in Swedish versions of NT the "Administrator" username is translated and reads "Administrat?r". It seams that the

smbclient, kerberos, and EMC
Hi Everyone, I'm trying to get smbclient to cooperate with my new EMC Celerra (just got it a little while ago) using kerberos. My windows domain environment is win2000 + sp4, the EMC is "joined" to the domain. I am using samba 3.0, fresh sources, and MIT KRB5 1.3.4, all freshly built. I join the domain, etc. everything is happy. I use kinit user@REALM to get my initial tgt.

smbclient -M --> ERRmsgoff?
Hi, I've been a Samba user/admin for about a decade with relative success, but now I'm stumped. I'm hoping someone might be a solution to this, or at least a solid answer. I'm looking to send out winpopup messages to our XP clients when one of our Samba fileshare servers needs to be rebooted. So I'm trying to sending the messages from a Linux/Samba server, which is not a
