Linux SMB Mount utils patch
Hi,
I'm sure that you are all aware that the mount utilities that ship
with samba are designed to compile and run only with Linux 2.1 series
development kernels.
I'll _try_ keep this short and sweet while doing my best to
explain what I have done, since I have a tendancy to ramble on. I
have two boxes, one Linux with libc5, and another with Linux and Glibc2
(aka libc6). The Samba

[PATCH] Hyper-V guest interface support with small set of enlightenments
A minimal implementation of the Viridian (Hyper-V) guest interface. The only
enlightenments advertised and supported are vAPIC MSRs and long-spin-wait
notifications. The set of enlightenments can easily be extended in future,
as they are found to provide a performance win, and configured via an
extended HVM_PARAM_VIRIDIAN hvm parameter.

Renaming Interfaces on Boot
Afternoon all,
I have a box with 5 NICs, which I intend to use as an external
interface, and an internal and dmz interface for each of 2 companies.
They are all (currently) 3c905b''s, but this could change in the future
(in that I may replace 2 of them with gig cards).
Anyway at boot they are apparently labeled according to the order the
modules are loaded and then their order on the

CUPS and Samba 3.0 - printers no show
Hi [Samba]s
I have RedHat 8.0, and have installed a compiled CUPS 1.1.19pre4 and
Samba 3.0 (latest this week from CVS). It all compiles and installs OK
with CUPS support in Samba, but no printers show up (according to
smbclient -L or from windoze) when "printing=cups" is used. It is OK if
another form of printing is used, for example "printing=sysv". A

dumping using tftp
Hi
Yeah I ended up figuring it out
My usage for the tool will be to gather hardware specs of new servers that we receive and servers we have in storage
I will then see if I can script something to phrase the dumps to update our inventory tool.
Our main issue is that gathering information manually by opening the server and having to locate each parts is time consuming and being humans we are

copy old profile - samba pdc - access denied
migrating a group of workstations to a Samba PDC-based domain. Machines
join to domain fine, but when I try to copy the existing local profiles to
the roaming profiles, I get a "Failed to set security on destination
profile" - Access is denied"
I have added the domain user to the local machine as an administrator.
When attempting to do the copy, I am logged into the samba

dumping using tftp
I'm not sure to get your point properly.
If you need to upload a result to a tftp server, you need to PXE boot hdt
to gain the network service.
HDT can be booted in PXE by using the hdt.c32 which is available with every
syslinux release.
Does it make much more meaning ?
I also would be very interesting on what is your usage of HDT and
expectations ;o)

smbsh and smbwrapper - porting help needed
Someone asked today about smbfs on HPUX. The basic answer to that is
that smbfs is _very_ operating system specific so it would take quite
a lot of work to get it to run on another OS.
There is hope though. Over the past few days I have been developing
something called smbwrapper (and smbsh). This offers most of the
capabilities of smbfs in a way that makes it somewhat portable. It
also provides

dumping using tftp
Hello,
I'm not quite sure I understand how do you use HDT for dumping over tftp server.
The wiki on dumping does not offer much details on how to set this up.
>From my understanding is you need to run pxelinux somewhere but being that HDT is a bootable cd ISO,
I don't see how I can get HDT up from a TFTP server without the need to install something on that TFTP server.

Asterisk Assistants for Linux or Windoze???

It wouldn't make sense to create Asterisk Assistants for
Windoze (it'd probably be called Asterisk Wizards, btw)
because Asterisk doesn't run on Windoze.
As for Linux, we are currently looking into that.
The Assistants are built using the

Guest access under Win XP plus printing
Hi,
I had Samba all working, but then I upgraded to samba 2.2.1a and
windows from 98 to XP.
Printing no longer works, and I don't think guest access works
properly either. Probably for the same reason.
In windows it appears that connection to the printer is ok, but
when you print it goes in the windows print queue and never
gets to the linux box. In printer setup it says lp on

kernel: attempt to access beyond end of device
Morning all,
I received this mail this morning from an admin regarding a xen guest
(newlists). It would seem that the filesystem is larger than its
container?
Before I spend too long looking at it, does anyone have any ideas as
to how this may have occurred and how it could be fixed?
Kind regards,
Sam

Only 1 physical CPU is seen
Hello
Is there a way from using HDT to determine the correct number of physical CPU's in the system with their correct amount of cores?
It seems HDT is only displaying 1 CPU and is sorta combining the cores.
Even when going through the dump files, I'm not able to use the data to correctly determine how many CPU's are in the system.
Is there away?

Password Sync problems
Hi,
I've set up Samba 2.2.6pre2 with ssl, pam, pam_smbpass and ldap on a
Solaris 9 server. Everything works fine in unix. However I cannot change
passwords from a Windoze client (win98) which has successfully logged in
to the samba domain. It seems that the password chat asks for the LDAP
password of the user, which would be ther user's old password. But
according to the docs,
