"name_query failed to find name" when using broadcast address
Hi everyone, I'm trying to set up a Windows XP Pro client to connect to a Samba server (version 2.2.8) on a Redhat 8.0 linux box, but have been having trouble for the past 3 days. I have gone through Troubleshooting Samba at [http://us1.samba.org/samba/ftp/docs/Samba24Hc13.pdf] but I can't figure out how to fix the problem. I suspect that the broadcast address may not be the same on both

Weird internaldate behavior with 1.0-test80 and mbox folder
Has anyone else encountered weird date behavior with mbox-style folders? I am nearly ready to bite the bullet and convert my UW imap hierarchy (which is in mbx format) to Dovecot. In so doing, I need to convert each UW-specific mbx-format mailboxes to the more portable mbox format, which Dovecot can read. (This is done with the 'mbxcvt' utility that's part of UW.) I am then

OpenSSH (ssh or sftp) client support of DNS SRV records
And a connection will fail if one of the round robin servers is down if that's the address given on a resolution, vs SRV entries knowing which servers to try (in order) if any server fails. ________________________________ From: SCOTT FIELDS <Scott.Fields at kyndryl.com> Sent: Monday, May 12, 2025 2:43 PM To: Travis Hayes <travis.hayes at gmail.com> Cc: Herbie via openssh-unix-dev

That's true for block ciphers, but ChaCha20+poly1305 is a stream cipher. Howto? 2 interfaces, same network, same gateway
Hello Summary: I have ifplugd managing eth0 and wlan0 (both dhcp). When I plug in the cat5 (which brings up eth0) applications which have already bound to wlan0 stop working, obviously because wlan0 for some reason is unable to get non-local packets out that interface. I figured if poodoze is able to have both interfaces working, then linux must surely be able to do it as well. The

Server video card
I have a big (8 quad core opterons) TYAN server with only the most basic mobo graphics capability and KDE under Xen is exceedingly slow and the attainable resolution is not very high. Is there wisdom on a particular card or chip that plays well with Xen (OpenSuSE 11.0)? THANK YOU! find_by datetime question
Hi, I was wondering if any of you Rails/SQL ninjas knew of an elegant way to grab from activerecord all the rows that are within an interval of the current time (say in the last week). For instance, if there''s the created_on datetime column, is there a zippy way to use find() without SQL? It seems like the Ruby DateTime object doesn''t really do intervals for numerous

R installation problems on Linux Mint 18.1 via jessie-cran3
Is there a reason for jessie-cran3 rather than xenial? For Linux Mint 18 (admittedly not 18.1) I have deb https://cloud.r-project.org/bin/linux/ubuntu xenial/ as one of the apt entries. problem connecting to icallglobe
Anyone has successfully used Asterisk with icallglobe's SIP termination service? I'd been trying to get my Asterisk box to terminate international calls through them. Asterisk seems to register OK, but whenever I send a call to icallglobe's gateway, I always get a '403 forbidden'. What I've done so far: a. register with their gw in sip.conf b. Defined a peer

MDL ISIS Draw 2.5 + AutoNom2000 in WINE = need help
Hello, I have successfully installed MDL ISIS Draw 2.5 (a program used in chemistry) under Wine (0.9.12 in Debian). Now, I need to install an addon (AutoNom2000, which is used to give IUPAC names of compounds) for this program. (This addon requires Windows 2000/XP; Wine was configured to "mimic" Windows 98 by default). When I try to run its installer, I get the following:

Xen - multiCPUs per socket setting?
I''m still trying to figure out how to get my Xen installation on a 34-CPU machine (8 quad cores) to recognize more than one CPU per socket. It seems to default to one CPU per socket on this machine. Win2003ServerEnterprise will support 8 quad cores (32 CPUs) in a native install, but I can''t fathom why it won''t when installed under Xen (OpenSuSE11.0). Thanks for any

PROBLEM:
Ext3 Journal oops & RAID-1 set losing sync. (Sent to both EXT3 and Linux-RAID since both are in use and seem possibly relevant) I have had a number of problems maintaining a software RAID-1 set on an IDE box I maintain; it seems that doing raidhotadd on the drive marked as invalid works each time though. However, I've had both errors about trying to read past the end of the
