Win 98
I am using samba-1.9.16p2-2 on Linux. Have used it for about 2 years with no problems. None. I have several Win95 units that access it. I loaded Win98 on one of the units and now I can browse the directories but I cannot enter any directory that requires a password. Win98 reports that the password is incorrect. I might add that Win98 also gets stuck in one of Microsofts loops in that since it

help migrating from file server to NAS w/ Active Directory
hello, I'm having a problem I hope will be easy for someone to explain to me how to fix. I need to migrate from an old server to a new Cisco Smart Storage NAS, which runs some flavor of linux and is Active Directory aware. Using something like Robocopy from the AD server, or rsync or tar from the file server does not preserve user/group identities or directory date stamps (maybe rsync

Backgroundrb-devel Digest, Vol 24, Issue 7
Hi, all. Just wondering if anyone has tried using the Paperclip file upload plugin with Backgroundrb. My current implementation uses attachment_fu - I save the file initially to the file system without generating thumbs, then a bdrb process picks up that file, generates thumbs, and saves to S3. This works fine and dandy, the only hitch is I want to save image metadata in the same table

Reduce memory peak when serializing to raw vectors
Presumably one could stream over the data twice, the first to get the size, without storing the data. Slower but more memory efficient, unless I'm missing something. Reduce memory peak when serializing to raw vectors
Jorge, what you propose is not possible because the size of the output is unknown, that's why a dynamically growing PStream buffer is used - it cannot be pre-allocated. Reduce memory peak when serializing to raw vectors
In principle, yes (that's what Rserve serialization does), but AFAIR we don't have the infrastructure in place for that. But then you may as well serialize to a connection instead. To be honest I don't see why you would serialize anything big to a vector - you can't really do anything useful with that ... (what you couldn't do with the streaming version). Sent from my iPhone

Good idea, but no reply: what to do.
Hello, since some time I've created a construction which: - automatically detects all the smb hosts and their shares (with nbtscan and smbclient) - creates a directory in the homemap of the users logged in which represents the "windows networkneighbourhoud". - when entering a share, it is automatically mounted (with autofs and cifs and or smbfs) It works very good, and now

Sortable list with Ajax and delete function - working example
Hi. I read most of the postings here but unfortunately I didin''t found a complete example which could be used. Of cource the ones who are professionals in javascript could implement the missing peaces from the puzzle. What I''m required to do is a tree (sortable list) where items can also be deleted and at each modification a function (ajax) is called to save the changes. For

par(las = 1) not possible in polymap(), library(splancs)?
Dear all, I want my PhD thesis which I hand in tomorrow to look even nicer: Does polymap in the splancs library not allow horizontal plotting of y-labels? I have tried polymap(studyarea, xlab = "x (m)", ylab = "y (m)", las = 1) but it doesn't change the labels? Mayby some function in library(spatstat) support las? Thanks! Sincerely, Tord

Centos kernel does not boot, redhat does (i2o raid controller problem)
Hi, following system: Dell PE2650, 2 2.4ghz Xeon, 1gb ram, Dell Perc4DC Controller It has EL5 installed, but I wanted to change to Centos because of the missing workstation packages in the entry server repository. The system was redhat up2date until yesterday, so the latest kernel was missing. I changed redhat-release to centos-release packages and the new centos kernel was installed the via

RFC1918 all of a sudden?
Is my RFC1918 file obsolete? I have been assigned an ip in the 83.0.0.0/8 range, and of cource a lot of Shorewall systems drop me with a RFC1918 error. So, is my ISP actually giving me a RFC1918 IP, or am I missing something? .
