Making DOS Boot Disks for Samba
Thanks to several very helpful souls on this list we have been able to
replace ndis2 NIC drivers and boot successfully in DOS, map a Samba drive
... permitting us to use a DOS Ghost to build lab systems.
The guy who figured this stuff out last year has left the college and I
don't understand what protocols, or clients he used to support a DOS-Samba
connection. (I'ld be lost if I had to

Samba + Clipper problem!
Hi everyone,
Here is the problem:
I have a server running Red Hat 5.2 and Samba-2.0.4 as
file server for
about 20 diskless machines with MSClient boot disks (created with
NT
server SP3). The server shares a dir with a Clipper/DBF database
for
those clients and the EXE file is in a NT machine. For weeks I've
been
trying to put the things together but the clients always break

floppy image issues
Hi!
sorry for the top post.
I have had some troubles in the past trying to make equipment to
boot a floppy with MS-DOS that also used ms networking to access
the network.
Particularly the Gateway GSX 500 cannot have the onboard NIC with
PXE enabled, as it eats about 92k of highmemory, which in turn
makes impossible to start Windows XP setup due to low memory.
On that particular machine I had

NWLINK - SAMBA
Hi all!
I would like to connect a DOS machine to samba.
I installed IPX to linux machine and tried with Microsoft Network Client 3.0 with NWLINK but it's not working...
(with TCP it's working, but unfortunately one dos program needs a lot of base memory, and tcptsr.exe eats a lot..)
Someone has an idea? please advise! :)
thank you

'cancel-tcpip-forward' is not supported.
Hi there,
I'm developing ssh client in pure java and, recently, I'm trying
to improve the port forwarding support on that stuff.
However, it seems to me that sshd of OpenSSH has not supported
'cancel-tcpip-forward' request.
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-secsh-connect-17.txt
says that

tcpip-forward with port 0 and 'want reply'
RFC 4254 says, in regards to the "tcpip-forward" request message:
Section 7.1
...
If a client passes 0 as port number to bind and has 'want reply' as
TRUE, then the server allocates the next available unprivileged port
number and replies with the following message; otherwise, there is
no response-specific data.
byte SSH_MSG_REQUEST_SUCCESS

Virtual ethernet delivers corrupt tcpip data
We came across this article recently. Does anyone know if libvirt-lxc
under CentOS 7 is impacted by this bug? It mentions that a fix for this
has been ported back as far as 3.14 kernels, but CentOS 7.1 is still
only at 3.10.

help for segmented package
Hi,
I am trying to find m breakpoints of a linear regression model. I
used the segmented package. It works fine for small number of
predicators and breakpoints.(3 r.v. 3 points). However, my model has
14 variables it even would not work even for just one breakpoints!.
The error message is always estimated breakpoints are out of range.
Since my problem is time related problem. So I

'merge' function creating duplicate columns names in the output
The "merge" command is creating duplicate column names in a dataframe
that is the result of the merge. The following is the 'merge'
command:
x <- merge(invType
, allocSlots
, by.x = 'index'
, by.y = 'indx'
, all.x = TRUE
)
The 'invType' dataframe was the result of a previous merge and has the

what is the intercept of a two-way anova model without interaction term?
Dear list,
I have a question regarding the meaning of intercept term in a two-way anova model without interaction term.
for example (let's assume there is no interaction between factor1 and factor2) :

2 171.13535 B t1
3 65.96884 C t1

bug with rpois (PR#9106)
The R poisson random generator rpois appears to have a bug for
theta 10 or larger. The sample mean of the pseudo variates is too
small: sample mean approx theta - 0.5.
I use Version 1.1.1 (August 15, 2000) Of R on a Dell OptiPlex computer
with the
Windows XP Professional operating system.
Has this bug been fixed in later versions?

FreeBSD 3.4-RELEASE/samba 2.0.6 problems
Synopsis: samba 2.0.6 running under FreeBSD 3.3-RELEASE is much faster
than the same running under FreeBSD 3.4-RELEASE, even after
replacing the 3.4-RELEASE kernel with the 3.4-STABLE kernel.
(This has been reported to FreeBSD GNATS as "kern/16605")
I have 2.0.6 running under FreeBSD using the following smb.conf:
