Very very very cool. I have been thinking of this one myself. I
thought I tested it and that I came to the conclusion that Samba did
not recognize named pipes, and just treated them like normal files
(overwriting them when you drag a text file onto them). But I must
have made a mistake somewhere. It' perfect.
The way I will set it up is like this: a Progress program will sit on

SVN vs DVCS
Hi,
Just wondering whether anyone had thought about moving the R sources
to a "distributed" version control system such as Bazaar, Git or
Mercurial. These new generation systems make it easier to work on
feature branches, allow working offline, are very fast, etc.
Some projects that have moved to Git are
Linux Kernel
Perl
Ruby on Rails

I appologize if this post is a duplicate, but I did not get my first

Here is my original post:

bug in aggregate.ts
Hi,
I am getting unexpected behaviour from aggregate.ts(). The 'ndeltat'
argument is effectively being reduced by 1 in some cases, even when it
is an integer, with the result that the blocks to be aggregated are
not of the expected size, and also that the end() of the aggregated
series is much later than the end() of the original series.

Moving call control to a second server
We've got the following set up:
Local Phone <-SIP(no reinvite)-> Local * <-IAX-> Central * <-SIP(no
reinvite)-> Remote Phone
I've got calls working just fine between Local and Remote phones.
All of the outgoing calls / voicemail / Music on Hold are done on the
Central * server. I would like to configure it so that the Local Phone
can use the Transfer facilities on

SAMBA 1.9.18p10 problem
I have been using Samba 1.9.18p8 in a Solaris 2.6 machine for months
but suddenly this week there is a problem. Nothing's changed.
I have some persistent connection of my NTSP3 client to the samba share.
When I login as usual, it fails to mount the drive. It either prompt for
password but whatever password the samba rejects, or give a "Access is
Denied" when you try to access the

Freebsd + NT/Nt-Client am Linux-Server
Pam_SMB allows Linux clients to validate
their passwords against an NT PDC, so the
only thing you have to do is set up the
accounts on the Linux side with an '*'
in the /etc/passwd entry. This can be
done using a list of users:
#!/bin/bash
for i in `cat myuserlist`; do
/usr/sbin/adduser -p '*' $i
with various other command line options,

proposal for new axis.Date/axis.POSIXct
Hi R-devel.
I've noticed a couple of quirks in the current time/date axis
functions (axis.Date, axis.POSIXct, and the equivalents in lattice).
Looking at the code, it seems like a fairly ad-hoc approach, often
using pretty() on components of the time. This is not always ideal -
for example a one-hour interval gets cut into 10-minute chunks rather
than the more natural 15-minute chunks (since

na.pass option in ccf function
Hi everyone,
I have been working with the ccf function recently, and in particular to
do my calculations I have been using "na.action = na.pass". I noticed
that the help documentation mentions that with this option the computed
estimate may not be a valid autocorrelation sequence and was wondering
if anyone could clarify what this means.
In particular, the example below gives
