HELP -- upgrade to 1.9.18p8 causing print/disk trouble ...
I recently upgraded all our site's samba servers to 1.9.18p8, and I seem to
be having many strange problems where they didn't exist before. I haven't
made any changes to smb.conf.
The biggest trouble I seem to have is that people can no longer access
printers ... NT/95 just gives a generic "path to server not available"
message. Some nodes even have trouble connecting

HELP -- upgrade to 1.9.18p8 causing print/disk trouble ..."
Hello Jim,
I've installed samba-1.9.18p8 some months ago. Everything worked find
till yesterday.
My PCs went in a similar problem as yours.
If I want to connect to a Networkprinter (my samba is the printserver
for the PC)
it takes a verly long time (10 Minutes) till I get any response from my
printer.
If I want to print it takes a very long time too to get the dialog with
the right printer.

vsftp anonymous upload access
I'm trying to set up anonymous ftp using vsftp. I want to be able to
allow uploads. The anonymous id is userid "ftp". The ~ftp/ directory
is actually owned by root, but ~ftp/pub is owned by ftp.
Here's the vsftpd.conf:
anonymous_enable=YES
anon_upload_enable=YES
local_enable=NO
write_enable=NO
local_umask=022

How to set user or file name on printing ...
I run samba on Solaris with encrypted passwords ... however I get people
occasionally visiting my location who need to get to certain basic
services like printing without having a user/account/password set up for
them.
A while ago I asked this list if there was some way to configure my server
so that the printers didn't require any username/password to do printing
.... nobody responded, and

Problem with mapping, userid that gets sent by NT
I am having a problem with mapping drives to a samba server (1.9.18p4 and
1.9.17) that is very reproducible. The 1.9.18p4 is a modified server that
has some special krb5 support in it (in addition to the stuff you
previously added that I sent you).
Here are two examples that are repeatable. Each is preceeded by killing
any samba daemons that are for connections from the host in question.

Anonymous printing and howto, dumb questions :-)
In samba howto collection it says :
...
Don?t use it if you want to protect your passwords. Better share the printer in
a way that does not require a password! Printing will only work if you have a working netbios
name resolution up and running.
How to set "anonymous shared printer" in Win 2000?
even if I give permision to anyone, Win refuses to gives list.

Trouble using 2 IAX2 DiDs provided by different ITSPs
Asterisk 1.2.7
Redhat 9
I have DiDs from two different ITSP both set up as IAX2. Each one
works when it's the only one in my iax.conf, but when I have them both
defined in iax.conf at the same time, only one will work. My iax.conf
is provided below.
Any ideas how to fix? I'd like to use both DiDs!
Thanks,
H

Anonymous printing with User-level security
Can I set up anonymous (unauthenticated) printing on a samba server that is
also hosting user-level security? I have looked through FAQs and sample
setups and don't see it, but I figured I would ask.
Thanks in advance,

Custom form and anonymous printing
Good afternoon;
I need to set up a custom form (paper size) on a printer that I share out with anonymous access from v. 3.0.1 on Solaris 8 to Windows 98 & XP Pro clients.
Should I change the server to require a password and then set this (according to pages 236 ff. of the new Samba book) and change it back, or is there another way?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Printing of anonymous functions in calls is sub-optimal
e.g.
substitute(f(x), list(f = function(x) x + 1))
# function (x)
# x + 1(x)
An extra pair of parentheses would really help:
(function(x)
x + 1)(x)
(Better indenting etc would be nice, but not necessary for correct
understand of the code)

Trouble setting up an Anonymous read/write samba server for WinXP Pro users
Greetings,
I'm having difficulty setting up an 'Anonymous Read-Write' SAMBA server on a
new system with a stock FC2 installation for use with WinXP Pro systems.
I'm using the following software on the 'fileserver':
- Linux FC2 installed from the FC2 iso's: kernel 2.6.5-1.358
- samba-common-3.0.3-5
- samba-3.0.3-5
- samba-client-3.0.3-5

Solaris/Samba/printing question
Hi all,
This is sort of mundane but users want to know how to get their userid's
on the banner sheet when they print to a Unix box running samba. The
printer prints out my userid (of course, I have a userid on the Unix box)
but everyone else has guest. smb.conf has "guest" as the userid to print
but how does my name get on the banner?
Is this even possible without users having

anonymous printing not working
Hi,
I have samba+ldap running on ubuntu 10.04 have multiple windows XP
machines joined to the domain. A laserjet printer is configured on
samba server using cups and samba is also print server. Domain users
when they login to the Windows XP (domain option) then they can print
however non domain users can't print. IDeally this is best
configuration. However, I'd like to have non domain

Ver 3.0.4 Anonymous access, no Password required
I have searched the Docs, How-to's, and this news group/ Mailing list
and still haven't found what I am looking for, at least not an answer.
I am simply trying to allow access to public shares on my Linux PC
(slackware 10). I have a directory setup but the only way to get in
is to send a Username and Password. I am setting it up for WinXP and
Win2K PC's to access. I have set up the

Trouble with proxy_maybe and auth_default_realm
Hello,
I'm using proxy_maybe and auth_default_realm. It seems that when a user
logs in without the domain name, relying on auth_default_realm, and the
"host" field points to the local server, I get the Proxying loops to
itself error. It does work as expected - log on to the local server
without proxying, if the user does include the domain name in the login.

Traffic accounting patch
Hello,
I like to force openssh (latest version) to log traffic accounting
information via syslog. I managed to path openssh with a ported version of
the traffic accounting patch for 2.5.1
The ported patch however is not by me.
The problem is that I noticed that sftp subsystem usage is not logged when
clients (the offical ssh client seems to do it) do not log off but simply
disconnect somehow.

Does Samba attempt Anonymous logon to IPC$ shares? Can this lockout accounts?!?
Hopefully someone can put my mind at ease...
I have about 10 W2K boxes with account lockout threshold of 5 failed logins
and Additional Restrictions for Anonymous Connections set to 'No access w/o
explicit anon. permissions' (Administrative Tools -> Security Settings ->
Local Policies -> Security Options)
I've set up a Samba server this week and in the past few days

Help with restrict anonymous = 2
I am trying to lock down Samba's null session accessibility by using the
"restrict anonymous = 2" setting but when I configure this option it
stops the test XP client from being able to logon in to the domain.
"restrict anonymous = 1" allows logins to work correctly but Samba still
shows some account information when checking with the GetAcct tool. I am
using a Samba
