smbpasswd does not work for normal users in 1.9.18p4
Hi everyone, It seems to me that smbpasswd does not work for normal users in Samba version 1.9.18p4. If I invoke it as root, then there is no problem with it, but if I invoke it as a normal user, then I get the following: $ smbpasswd -D 99 Old SMB password: New SMB password: Retype new SMB password: Connecting to 127.0.0.1 at port 139 write_socket(3,76) write_socket(3,76) wrote 76 Sent session

Implementing SAMBA w/ Automounter
I checked the archives and automounter is only mentioned for home dirs. Our organization would like to implement SAMBA but we have over 150 mount points. Is there a way we can use automounter maps with SAMBA? Having to edit smb.conf each time we add/remove a mount point would be quite annoying and time consuming. Cheers, --- Jeff Newton Computer Services PMC-Sierra Inc.

run scripts on samba server
Hi all, I have a network with Win95 clients and a samba-server 1.9.18p3 on Linux 2.033. Linux is only used as serversystem, clientusers are nonfamiliar with Linux. Sometimes it would be usefull, to start a program or script on the server from the client. This can be done via telnet, but I'd like to know if there is some sort of call implemented in samba to start a script on the server

magic-script fine, but how
Hi all, I want to start a linux-script on a samba-networkserver from a win95-client. I was kindly advised, to use the parameter magic script in smb.conf. The listing below shows a share-section of my smb.conf. I tried the same parameters in the global section as well. When I open the file: magic script = /usr/local/samba/netzwerk/magic-linux/script and type: /usr/local/bin/transmail from a

[LLVMdev] Help needed about setting up an Aarch64 LLVM buildbot
Dear LLVM developers, My name is Gabor Ballabas. I work for the University of Szeged (Hungary) and we have an ongoing project with the goal of setting up and maintaining an LLVM buildbot for the ARMv8 - alias Aarch64 - architecture. Due to lack of existing hardware for this architecture we use ARM's Foundation Model to run the Aarch64 binaries. (See:

Problem with PXE reboot option
Hello, on may 7th I send the following mail. Can you confirm that it is received and can you comment on the reaction of the manufacturer? In our system (lot of CPCI boards) the atftp server is sometimes so busy that a TFTP request times out. I added the PXE option reboottime to force a quick reboot. Once in a while this fails and the board just doesn't reboot. I can easily reproduce the

PXE sometimes fails to reboot
Hello, In our system (lot of CPCI boards) the atftp server is sometimes so busy that a TFTP request times out. I added the PXE option reboottime to force a quick reboot. Once in a while this fails and the board just doesn't reboot. I can easily reproduce the problem when I rename/delete the pxelinux.cfg directory. In that case the board reboots fine a few times but hangs within 15 minutes.

Questions about code-size optimizations in ARM backend
Hi All, I started to work on code-size improvements on ARM target by comparing GCC and LLVM generated code. My first candidate was switch-case lowering. I also created a Bugzilla issue for this topic: https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34902 The full example code and the generated assembly for GCC and for LLVM is in the Bugzilla issue. My first idea was to simplify the following

[LLVMdev] object size comparisons
I am looking for some scripts that let me compare , for size, gcc and llvm for mips16/32 and get some kind of function by function comparison and maybe a list of which ones are bigger in llvm and other statistics. Not rocket science but maybe someone already has exactly what I'm looking for. Tia. Reed

[LLVMdev] AArch64 Full bot
Hi Gabor, It seems the linker is playing tricks on the full bot: http://lab.llvm.org:8011/builders/clang-native-aarch64-full Sometimes it works by cleaning the stage2 dir completely, but there may be some extra bits that we're not considering. However, I can't see why any of the commits on the first failure did anything to the relocations on AArhc64... cheers, --renato
