smbmount
I am moving FROM: RH EL AS 3.0, Kernel is 2.1.21-4, Samba is 3.0.0-14.3E (This is what came with the RH distribution) TO: Fedora Core 5 Kernel is 2.6.16-1.2122_FC5 Samba is 3.0.22-1.fc5 (Both kernel and samba have been upgraded from the distribution.) I can't find the smbmount (or smbumount) command. I am running VMWare and want to be able to move files between the host

smbmount on redhat 9
I use samba in a very limited application to mount smb shares using smbmount. I have a simple script I use that mounts several shares to a variety of mount points as a specific user on my system. The script passes username, password, share, mount point, domain information to each call to smbmount. This script worked perfectly under redhat 8.0 but since upgrading to redhat 9 I have had some

smbmount from samba-1.9.18p8, Linux-2.1.107 and no joy
Hello all, after hacking around to get smbmount and smbmnt to get compiled on RedHat-5.1 I'm unable to use them. With the stock RedHat kernel and the old smbmount I used the following command line: smbmount //rho/homes /mnt/smb/homes -c pc-topaz -U pommnitz -u pommnitz -P mypassword Everything works fine this way (with 2.0.34). With 2.1.107 the new smbmount is required. As I said, after some

smbmount not exiting in script
I run a script to mount several file shares from machines running W98 and W2000 so that I can do incremental dumps every night of these file shares. smbmount almost always fails to exit. This causes the script to stall and so the dumps are not done. In the am, if I kill the smbmount processes, the dumps complete successfully, since the mounts were in fact correctly completed. (I know that

smbmount vs linux
In trying to install samba 2.0.6 on my mklinux system, I'm running into a lot of compiler messages about redifinitions while compiling any of the smbfs utils. The current state of mklinux is back several versions from the "regular" linux kernel, but is using glibc2.1. I understand smbsh is the preferred way to go instead of smbfs, but I also understand that smbsh is broken under

Smbclient succeeds but smbmount fails
Hi, I can't seem to overcome an odd problem connecting to a directory share exported by a Win2K (Pro) workstation from my RH Linux 9 system. I was able to accomplish this successfully with Samba 2.2.7 (using mount -t smbfs ...). With that configuration, however, I was unable to get Windows clients to connect to shares exported by the Linux box, so I upgraded to Samba 3.0.4. Under Samba 3 I

Horrible smbmount problem
Hello, I have a problem with smbmount between two Linux (both: RH 6.0, kernel 2.2.9, samba 2.0.4c) boxes. When I use smbmount, the share loads and I can read files just fine, but when I copy ("cp file") to the share, the first 512 bytes of the file are copied and then the copy just freezes there. Trying several times to kill -9 the process didn't work. I had to reboot the server.

All ok. However in the other 50% the command just hangs. If i open a new window it did do

Samba 3.0.10 on Red Hat AS 2.1
Does Samba 3.0.x can be compiled on RH AS 2.1 (using glibc 2.2.4)? I can't complete the compilation! Here are the configuration options: ./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc/samba \ --localstatedir=/var/samba --with-ldap --with-ads \ --with-smbmount --with-pam --with-pam_smbpass \ --with-winbind --with-configdir=/etc/samba \ --with-logbasedir=/var/log/samba \

Bug in smbmount?
Local software is: samba-client-2.0.7-4 samba-common-2.0.7-4 samba-2.0.7-4 on RH 6.2 plus fixes, kernel is 2.2.16-3 NT server is 4.0 SP4 As root I can mount an NT share onto the Linux system: /usr/bin/smbmount '//ntserver/myshare' /mnt/test -o username=mylinuxuser, password=something, uid=myntuser, workgroup=CMP But the mount point gets forced to mode 555 instead of 755. Errors with smbfs/smbmount.
I've been working with smbfs/smbmount the last few weeks to allow my linux log processing server access to the logs on our NT servers. The problem is that after a period of time all the smbfs mounts become invalid with either one of two errors. When you do a 'df -k' to view the mounts you see the following: samba:~# df -k Filesystem 1k-blocks Used Available Use%

smbmount issues on a Win95 drive
I am having some problems when I have a Win95 share mounted using smbmount. In some directories not all the directory entries are showing up for an ls. I can traverse the directories if I know what they are. I am running Debian Linux 2.0(libc6) with kernel 2.0.34 and samba 1.9.18p8. I have smbfs and the win95 bug workaround compiled into the kernel. Is there a solution to this? Also, I am

smbmount + linux 2.2 kernel
Hi- I'm finding a strange problem with smbmount (the one from samba 2.0, not the old smbfs) on the 2.2.0 linux kernel. I compiled samba with: --with-smbmount --with-automount --with-smbwrapper I am using Redhat 5.2, smbfs is compiled as a module, and mount is version 2.8a if that matters. smbmnt is installed setuid root as it should be. When I run "smbmount '\\machine\share'

Patch: patches for smbmount opton documentation ( smbmount.8.xml )
Hi, I use samba on Linux 2.6 and 2G over size file sharing. It seems smbmount '-o lfs' need to use with large file. but default man page doesn't say this option. I want to edit smbmount.8.xml for lfs and unicode option. I believe using mount.cifs is right way on latest Linux. But one of the implementation smb_clients tools take this lazy option. Is it right way to change of man page

"smbmount" and Linux kernel-2.0.37
Hello, I tried to compile Samba-2.0.5b with smbmount after setting the configure-option "--with-smbmount". On systems (SuSE 5.0 and SuSE 5.3) running Linux kernel 2.0.35 and 2.0.37 I didn't have success: Compiling client/smbmount.c In file included from /usr/include/linux/smb_fs.h:11, from client/smbmount.c:28: /usr/include/linux/smb.h:47: warning: `PVAL'
