Netlogon share and locking
Rob, I hope you have referred to the example smb.conf file. We really cut our teeth on some of the example config settings. It is IMPERATIVE that nothing in the NETLOGON share should become locked - this breaks the logon process very badly! Some Win95 clients will always hang on logon if any files end up being locked in the netlogon share. For the record, here is an extract from

Proposal for Ambisonics format in vorbis comment.
Greetings, I apologize if I posted this in the wrong list, I wasn't sure where to post it, but seeing as the tags are called "vorbis comments" I thought vorbis, rather than ogg-dev, would be the right choice. (actually, I'm not even a developer anyway) What I'd like to propose is a simple way to encode ambisonic files in vorbis comments as simple tags. By this I don't

Empty Mails from MAILER-DAEMON with Dovecot-Antispam and DSPAM
Hallo, I've installed the dovecot-Antispam extension to my dovecot IMAP installation in conjunction with DSPAM. But when moving Mails from e.g. INBOX to Spam or vice versa, empty mails from MAILER-DAEMON appear after the original mail has been moved. This happens using Thunderbird 17esr, K-9 Mail on Android and Apple Mail (Mountain Lion). (Perhaps also when using a Webmail IMAP client)

rsync-2.5.6 build on Red Hat 8.0 fails
The packaging/lsb/rsync.spec file is broken as shipped: It has a "Sept" month (rpmbuild here takes only 3-letter month names), and RH gzips the manpages, so the %files list can't find them. I also added doc/README-SGML and doc/rsync.sgml to the %doc files. Patch follows. Thanks for all the good work! --- rsync-2.5.6/packaging/lsb/rsync.spec.orig 2003-01-28 06:28:35.000000000 +0100

Channel Mapping Family for Ambisonics
Alright, here is a somewhat formal definition of the channel mapping I had in mind: ------ Channel Mapping Family 2 Allowed numbers of channels: (1 + l)^2 for l = 1...15. Explicitly 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64, 81, 100, 121, 144, 169, 196, 225. Ambisonics from first to fifteenth order. Each channel is assigned to an ambisonic component in Ambisonic Channel Number (ACN) order. The ambisonic

Design question: Years/Teams/Students
People, I want to design a historical sports db for my old school. I think at the moment it should be like: A year has many teams A team has many students A student has one lastname, firstname and middlename but a student can also have many teams (eg summer/winter abd over a number of years) . . Is there a problem with this? Doesn''t it just mean that there will be a student table

Scaffolding - disabling Create, Edit, Destroy for some user logins?
People, I am using: before_filter :login_required in my Controllers and this works fine. For some tables I am happy to use the output of eg: ruby script/generate scaffold Author but is there some way that I can disable Create, Edit, Destroy for some user logins in the corresponding view?
