win95 client problems (registry limitation?)
Howdy:
I'm new to this samba stuff, but I've run across a problem that
doesn't seem to be documented anywhere.
It seems that OSR/2 clients (with all the M$ system updates; I
already added the EnableClearTextPassword key) that have had their
TCP/IP settings tweaked in the registry (eg, MaxMTU=576, TTL=32,
RWIN added, etc) for DUN connections have mucho problems with a

SAMBA digest 1850 (DNS name and netbios name differ)
The default setting for Win95 are to do DNS before WINS. You can try to change
this order to see if this fixes the problem. I clipped the following from the
Technet article - Q139270. It would be easier to disable DNS on a Win95 client
to see if the name resolution order is causing your problem; then do all this
happy stuff...

UA - number assignment
My problem is simple and I've issued it about 3 weeks ago. I want the
UAs to authenticate with a number to the SIP server. Is this possible?
For example, I configured an AT-RG613TX (Allied Telesyn Residential
Gateway). In its configuration it is not possible for me to skip
specifying a number (ex. 102) along with the username. I've looked into
the source code (SIP implementation) of

Bad performance on samba server
I have installed a samba server (1.9.17p4 Linux 2.0.36 from redhat 5.0)
on a dual pentiumII 350 64Mram with two
ultra wide scsi disk drives on a 100Mbit port of a 16x10Mbit + 2x100Mbit
Allied Telesyn switch .The copying operations work at quite same speed
even I copy from Samba server or a Win9x Station if I try to open a
Word doc from server it is much, much slower ( aprox 20 times slower

Max Buffer Size vs Max Raw Buffer question...1GB tuning questions
I've been attempting to tune my samba server and workstations to work
efficiently on a 1GB lan.
So far I've increased the MTU on both the workstation and linux server to
9000.
Then on the windows xp workstation, I've added these registry keys and
rebooted:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]
"TcpWindowSize"=dword:3FFFF700

Wine registry format question
In the reg files there is a number at the end of every section/key property. Example:
[System\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\VxD\\MSTCP] 1296424715
What is the purpose of "1296424715"? Is this a time stamp or checksum?

Pinging win from FreeBSD
Hello Samba folks,
I thought you might be able to help me.
I have 2 machines, 1 is FreeBSD, 1 is win95. They can't ping each other, but
the bsd box comes up in Network Nieghborhood when Samba is active. What's
going on? Is it not possible to ping a windows machine from a unix box? They
are on the same hub via UTP. IPs are 192.168.1.x and netmasks are same
(255.255.255.0).

OpenSSH 1.2.3 on AIX 4.3.3
Hmph. I wish I had checked the list before I wasted a half-day on this.
Yes, the problem exists under AIX (mine's 4.3.1). Here's the patch I
came up with, which may be a little more straightforward than the
original. I confirmed that it works under Solaris 2.[67] too.
Don't forget to run autoconf.

Ping win/FreeBSD probs
Okay,
I'm starting to get excited now because I think someone from the
Samba lists has pushed me in the right direction here. To recap:
I can't ping my win machine (192.168.1.2) from my FreeBSD box (192.168.1.3)
and vice versa. Both subnet masks are 255.255.255.0 and ipfw is not running.
I loaded the dos config program for the card on my BSD machine (by booting
off DOS floppy

Asterisk-Asterisk E1 connection
Dear, I have two Asterisk PBXs with an E1 interface/RJ-45 port in both
boxes. I need to connect both PBXs with E1/R2 and UTP cable.
What are the requirements to deploy the UTP cable ??? Straight-through
or crossover ??? What are the pinouts in both peers ???
Thanks a lot,
Alejandro

SunOS 4.x port
This is based on openssh-2.0.0beta1. There are a few rough spots:
1) SunOS doesn't have ut_type in struct utmp so I just whacked
in the old login() from openssh-1.2.3.
2) There is a SUNOS4 section added to defines.h -- this could probably
be a bit cleaner.
3) sigaction on SunOS is implemented via #defines to sigvec, thus there
is no SA_RESTART (this is the default behavior).

This doesn't look like a problem in either the TCP implementation or
the application level software on either

Ext3-Bug in Kernel 2.4.21?
Hi,
The following error message appeared in syslog while the filesharing
client overnet was running and writing to the disk.
I first only noticed that suddenly Opera was frozen and no new terminals
could be started.

"bug" with ifconfig ... ?
I just made one of my 4.x remote servers inaccessible and just tested it
on my 5.x laptop, and it does the same thing ... not sure if this is
considered a 'desirable' effect, or a but ... but ... 'ifconfig <device>
-alias' will wipe out all IPs on the device:
mobile# ifconfig -a

Slow file writes to server
I am running a Fedora 2 machine with Samba 3.0.7. I am using LDAP to
store the user info. Everything is from stock rpms. I am using domain
logins for my users.
Since 3.0.6, whenever someone tries to write a file to the server, it is
extremely slow. It doesn't matter whether it's a Win XP sp1, sp2 or
Win2000 client but for some reason, my computer didn't have this problem.

kernel: nfs: RPC call returned error 88
We have a 2-node Oracle RAC that keeps getting the following error:
kernel: nfs: RPC call returned error 88
The storage being mounted is netapp. We don't see any errors/issues on the
storage itself or the switches this client is connecting thru. The NFS
network is a 2-interface ( 2 x 1Gb UTP) bond which shows no errors of any
kind.
We are mounting with the following mount options:

TE405P and E1
Hello
Im from Denmark and i've just got my Digium TE405P. But i have some

My telco delivered a alcatel box witch have a G.703 120ohm (DB9 with a

I've tried to connect using the 120ohm with rj45 and a ordinary utp cable.
But it dosent seem to work. I've tried several zaptel.conf
