Samba Beta 2
List, I would appreciate if anyone could help with the following problem. I have compiled and installed Samba 2.0 Beta 2. It compiled with no problems however smbd does not run. Compilation was on a RS6000 running AIX 4.2.1. Here is a copy of the log.smb file if it helps. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- ---------------------------- [1998/12/03

SAMBA setting file permissions
I'm pretty sure this is a SAMBA issue. I have a strange problem when changing permissions on a file (ex. index.html) through Windows on a SAMBA share. For example: All user files are accessed through SAMBA Through W2K, I set the permission on my index.html file so that only the user has read/write and nothing for group and Everyone. Now this should break my web page, but to my surprise it

smb_newconn error
Okay, newbie alert. We're having a problem with a linux (2.2.20 smp) webserver (apache) that is a samba 2.0.7-4) client. Oddly, both client and server are Linux. (I didn't set them up) There are 2 webservers that in theory are set up exactly the same. When a certain one of them goes live, it generates an error: smb_newconn failed to allocate new packet buffer max xmit 65535 The server

Setting file permissions through SAMBA
I've tried the samba lists but have not gotten any response for my problem. This looks to be a bug. All our user files are accessed through SAMBA on our main file servers, one is Linux RH7.2 and the second one is a Solaris system running Solaris 8. The problem we're seeing is that when some one creates a file for their web page, they have to set the permission on the file to rw for

Problem on displaying groupquota info
Gentleman, I have samba-3.0.25a working on a FreeBSD6.2 server. It was been compiled with-quota support. It was supposed to be working well with userquota and groupquota. Actually it is ok with userquotas. But it is passing wrong information about groupquota. On the server, 'quota -g sti' shows Disk quotas for group sti (gid 1001): Filesystem usage quota limit grace

Duplex printer + samba + cups
Gentleman, In one of my slackware servers I put samba acting as a printer server connected to a Hewlett-Packard 2420D (D stands for duplex). In CUPS I'm using the 'raw' driver. So I let the clients to perform the driver stuff. On samba, I followed the procedures described on http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/classicalprinting.html#inst-rpc to make

Bizarre problem - happens only under XP and not 2000
I have a very strange problem, which no one has been able to fathom to this point so I'm hoping that someone here may have encountered something similar. I'd better note down some background details first. Relevant machines involved: Win2K Adv. Server SP3 (acting as Active Directory primary) Win2K Pro SP3 (authenticates against Win2K server above) WinXP Pro SP1 (authenticates against

Sybase 12.5.3 on CentOS 5
Folks, After installing CentOS 5, I installed a few Sybase dependencies such as compat-libstdc++-296 and libXp. Once Sybase was installed, I started the steps to create the Adaptative Server. When the wizard executes the dataserber binary it crashes with segmentation fault. Someone can give me some help on this? Does anyone have this working? Thanks in advance! -- Fabiano Caixeta Duarte

Login and logout auditing
Hi all! Is there a way of logging date/time/workstation/username for every logon and logoff in a samba domain? I realized that it isn't possible to use log level auth for this purpose. I tried to use connections to netlogon service written on the logs. But I realized that those connections are closed before the user logs out. The main idea behind this is to have information enought to

SAMBA - Access control to printer sharings
Hi you all! I am mantaining a few printer severs using Samba 2.2.8 on a WinNT domain. I've got some disk sharings controlled by 'read list' and 'write list', limiting some groups. It worked just fine. But now I need to get only one group printing on a printer sharing and everybody else must be rejected. As I said, people are logging in a WinNT Server. So that's the main

Textmate RSpec Bundle ''it'' snippet
It seems to me that the RSpec bundle''s ''it'' snippet is in need of some love. By default, a newly inserted spec passes. This seems odd as it is misleading. It also makes it harder find what specs still need to be completed if you return to an RSpec module after a break. I propose that the ''it'' snippet is changed to the following: it

NFS shutdown issue
Hi all, I have an odd interaction on a CentOS 7 file server. The basic setup is a minimal 7.x install. I have 4 internal drives (/dev/sd[a-d]) configured in a RAID5 and mounted locally on /data. This is exported via NFS to ~12 workstations which use the exported file systems for /home. I have an external drive connected via USB (/dev/sde) and mounted on /rsnapshot. I use rsnapshot to back up
