Samba takes some time to wake up...
Subject: Samba takes some time to wake up.... Hi folks, We are using Samba-2.0. with RedHat 5.2 on a PII-350MHz and RAID SCSI HD as a domain-logon-server. The clients are Win 95 Pentium PCs connected by ethernet. The problem is: Samba takes a long time, i.e. 1 min, to let the first user log on in the morning. After that the response times are reasonable.

AutoCAD R14 and SAMBA 1.9.18pl8
Hello, We've had serious performance problems loading AutoCAD R14 .dwg files from a VAResearch VArServer 3000 (dual 400MHz PII, Red Hat 5.0, SAMBA 1.9.17p4, 256MB RAM, 36GB RAID5). The problem is that on first access, trying to read the .dwg file is very, very slow -- a 10MB .dwg file loaded from an NT4.0sp3 server using a win95 station using AutoCAD R14 and SoftDesk AutoArchitect takes in

system hangs because of samba?!
Hi is it possible that my system hangs now and then because of the following rules inthe [global] section of my smb.conf?! #speed under FreeBSD getwd cache = Yes max xmit = 8192 read raw = yes read prediction = yes read size = 8192 socket options = IPTOS_LOWDELAY TCP_NODELAY I think since I put this in my server hnags now and then because of big filetransfers, but there might be another cause

High cpu load
Server is PII-350MHz/256 MB RAM, hardware mirrored high speed SCSI disks. Installed is SuSE 8.2 with Samba 2.2.8a RPM, XFS filesystems and LPRng as printservices. Server acts as PDC and WINS server. Clients are W2K SP2 (a few with SP3). There are +/- 100 clients. We see a server that is 100% busy and we see during a long time a very high CPU load (60- 95%) related to one W2K client. When

samba 2.2.7a and multiple logins...

Users are connected multiple times with the same share

Samba writing speed with big blocks
Hello ! I'm having serious problems with Samba's writing speed (both 2.0.5a from RH 6.1 and 2.0.6 compiled from sources) on a 100Mbit network. If I write a file with block size 65487 or less, then the writing speed is about 7-8 MB/s - a very nice value, my bow to the Samba team :) If I change the block size to 65488 or more, then the writing speed falls down to 3 MB/s, which is not what

UNIX local accounts not being authenticated
Greetings, I am running Samba 2.0.6 onn my Solaris 7 box. It's running well, except; I can't seem to get local UNIX accounts to work. All my users in my NIS database get authenticated without a problem, but since I want to give access to some shares without creating an NIS, thereby creating a local machine account, it prompts for a password and is denied. Access is given, to Windows

samba/network performance
Hi list, we're having some problems with our Samba Server based on Debian Eth with Samba version 3.0.24. When a user copies a file to a share the performance is just about 10-15 MBits/s. Doesn't matter what OS the client uses. The server itself has a 1 G connection. Both are directly connected to the switch so there couldn't be a buggy cable/box between them. When i measure the speed
