openssh-2.5.2p2 on SunOS 4.1.3
Hi developers, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this
question, so please don't crcify me if it isn't :)
I'm trying to compile openssh-2.5.2p2 on SunOS 4.1.3.
Since SunOS is not in the portable list, I took a look at this mailing
list archive and found some of you guys have been able to compile it.
My ./configure says I don't have the regex library :

Compiling R on Sunos
I'm looking for some help in getting R to compile on Sunos. We run a
collection of Sunos and Solaris machines in the department here. I got
to compile on Solaris 2.5.1 using gcc 2.7.2.2. On my Sunos 4.1.3 (and
I've tried it on Sunos 4.1.4 as well) machines, it crashes during the
compile. I'm using gcc 2.8.1 on there. It gets to this point:
gcc -g -O2 -I../include

NT4.0 rename on Samba 1.9.18p2 share on SunOS 4.1.3
I am seeing an odd behavior with NT4.0 SP3 workstations trying to rename

it is run from Explorer, winfile.exe, or command prompt fails with

SAMBA Problem - Users take ownership
Hi,
I have a problem with my Samba/WinBIND implementation. In folders shared by multiple people the last one to access and modify a file takes ownership of the file and changes the permissions so other users cannot make changes to the same file:
[root@atlas PLANNING RECORDS]# cd REGIONAL\ 1\ AIRLINE\ DOCS/
[root@atlas REGIONAL 1 AIRLINE DOCS]# ls -al

Latest SAMBA binaries for SunOS 4.1.3
Hello all
On my SunOS 4.1.3_U1 / SPARCstation 5 (ie. sun4m
architecture) server I am running SAMBA 1.9.15p8,
and I am having all sorts of permission problems.
For example, there are two AutoCAD drawings with identical
Unix ownership and permissions (ie. 666), sitting in the exact
same directory. The directory has 777 permissions.

[LLVMdev] Hey, who said you could use Obsequi's code!
Just kidding. :-)
Hi, I was just doing a Google search on my name and I
ran across a site that actually had a reference to
Obsequi a program I wrote almost three years ago now.
I thought the program had been forgotten a long time
ago (forgotten might not be the right word, I'm not
sure if it was ever remembered).
Anyway I was just wondering how John Criswell ever ran

Modifications of ACLs via Windows client
Hi,
I'm trying to implement the XFS ACLs under samba 2.2.2.
I'd compiled a new kernel with xfs support and all the ACL functions
(setfacl, getfacl, etc) works well.
I'd then compiled samba 2.2.2 with the --with-acl option, and it seems to be
happy with that.
Now I'm trying to access the ACLs via windows clients. A client could
modify the access right existing until it

R-beta: Postscript command fails
We are getting the following error:
> postscript(file="Rplot.ps")
Error in device("postscript", as.character(c(file, paper, family, bg, :
unable to start device postscript
This is R-0.49 under SunOS 4.1.3 and under Linux (kernel 2.0.0).
The command worked fine on R-0.14 under the 2 above operating systems.
Any ideas?

Controlling unix print queues from PC
I'm running Samba 2.0.3 from the pre-built binary
(ftp://sunsite.org.uk/packages/samba/Binary_Packages/solaris/samba-2.0.3
-sunos-4.1.3.tar.Z) on a Sun IPX with SunOS 4.1.3_U1.
I've defined a printer in smb.conf, from a PC (NT 4.0) I can send prints
to it and view the queue OK but I can't manage the queue in any way.
Attempts to cancel prints and stop or start the queue from the PC

"Shrinking" Browse LIST with Multple Ethernet Switches!
Fellow Samba Users:
A few months back we "upgraded" from a standard 10 Base/T & Thin based
Ethernet LAN to using multiple Cisco Ethernet Switches (Model 1900s
connected in parallel). Since which time our Browse LIST (Network
Neighborhood) shrinks over time. I have a SunOS 4.1.3 SPARC/10 running
Samba 1.9.17p4 configured as our Domain Master, with a variety of SunOS,

winbindd to NT 4.0
Hi,
I have a Samba server Version 3.0.14a-2. It has been working flawlessly for close to a year. I utilize winbindd to a NT4.0 domain to authenticate users to my Samba shares.
All of a sudden, the shares are no longer accessible to Windows machines. An ls on an example directory shows:
drwxrws--- 15 root 10000 4096 Dec 6 11:21 AC_Manuals
This is wierd because the 10000 should show

What Happened to my SAMBA? Permissions Issue
OK. Everything is going great for 4 years on my FC3 Samba Version 3.0.3-5.
Now all of a sudden, when someone opens a Word/Excel file on a Samba share, it changes the user Owner to that user as well as modifies the permissions to r-x and leaves the group/permission bits/owner setting alone.
I have the root directories for all shares with the u and g sticky bits set on, but it is not enforcing

Out of connections: here too
Hi samba fans,
We run samba on Solaris SunOS 5.8, samba 2.2.2 and are plagued by failing
connections for a while.
We have about 150 people at max usage connecting simultaneous to 1 samba
server, mostly from within Win NT Terminal Server Sessions (this might be
related, as these sessions occur from only from four different IP's namely
our four TS servers)
Symptom:
user cannot mount one
