Samba on A SGI Indy Cyclone IRIX system???
Hi there: We have recently inherited a circa 1996 SGI Indy Colorbus Cyclone running on Irix. Our intention is to use this unit to drive our Canon CLC900 Scanner Copier and make it accessible to our Windows Network. At the moment, our Windows Network does not "see" the Cyclone & vice versa. I have read that installing some kind of Windows Samba client onto our windows

Locked files that stay open after a PC crash
Hi, How should you deal, as an administrator/root, with locked files that stay open after a PC crash and the user can't access them any more. For example: The PC crashes and the user restart. MS-Outlook complains that it can't open its outlook.pst file, that is on a samba share, with the proper read/write access and the user can't get any mail. As root you do a smbstatus -u and you

Samba 2.0.3 and lotus notes client (PR#15717)
Hello, We have a problem with samba 2.0.3 and a lotus notes 4.6.2 client. The local lotus-notes user's databases are on the home-directory of the user in directory notes/data. The home-directory is a directory on a unix (HP) file-server and is accessed with samba. If a user wants to open the databases in his notes/data directory, he get a notes error "The parameter is incorrect".

We are running samba on a number of HP systems running HP/UX 11.00. We moved from samba version 2.0.7. to samba version 2.2.3a. We have about 200-400 smbd's running on one host. Samba version 2.2.3a was running without any problems for about two weeks. But now on two different servers indepent of each other, the file table was full. We found out that ONE smbd used about 5000 !!

problems with msdfs
We did some tests with msdfs on HP/UX with samba version 2.2.1.a and we found a strange problem. We create a msdfs root on a HP/UX system with samba version 2.2.1.a and create a link in it to an HP/UX system with samba version 2.0.7. We mapped the link in the msdfs root on a NT4 system to drive F. The share contains the source of samba and in explorer we went to :

msdfs
Hello, Last week I submitted a problem with msdfs on samba. I didn't receive any reaction. I've also tried the samba-cvs version but this has also problems. We really like to use msdfs from samba, because we want to put all our homedirectories ( more than 4000 ) in one dfsroot. This is not possible with Microsoft's dfs because this has a limit of 1000 .... I didn't found this

Doing weird bouncing of IAX trunk calls on purpose
Ok, so this might seem weird, but hang with me on this. I have two sites, Indy and Lafayette that each have their own Asterisk server. They each have their own outside PRI line. They are also trunked internally via and IAX tunnel over a private fiber line. I've recently been asked to have the calls incoming to Indy, forwarded to a group in Lafayette (only during the day, so can't be

problem with excel and samba
Hello, We have a problem with excel and samba 2.0.6. ( on HPUX 11.00 and Solaris ) It is not possible to print to a file within excel. You don't get the window to specify a filename.. If you set "nt smb support = no" in the smb.conf file, the problem disappears. Can somebody tell me what "nt smb support = no" really does?? Regards, Eddy Reniers Philips Research

Single shared directory, with a universal password
Hello, I am using Samba "Version 2.2.3a-12 for Debian" on a Debian 3.0 system. I have looked at lots of Samba documentation and have not been able to find anything explaining what I need. I want to create a single directory on my Samba server that is ok for any user (e.g. 'guest ok = yes'), but is password protected. Meaning, I want a share that any user can access as long as

How do I coerce numeric factor columns of data frame to vector?
I have just noticed that quite a few columns of a data frame that I am working on are numeric factors. For summary() purposes I want them to be vectors. I tried, for example > indx <- c(1:18,21:37,40,41) > i <- 0 > i <- i+1 > summary(as.vector(sflows1[indx[i]])) Length Class Mode min.pkt.sz 3000 factor numeric but this does not give the five-number

R-beta: Installation problems on SGI-IRIX
Hello, first, I'd like to congratulate everybody involved in the development of this statistical software. I've been working for a while with R on Macintosh, and I like the incredible freedom that we get when working with a flexible program like R. Experiencing serious limitations in the implementation of functions and reuse of results of previous analyses in traditional statistical

IRIX 5.3 permanently_set_uid problem
Hello, I have tried running OpenSSH 3.7.1p2 on an Indy running IRIX 5.3. It compiled and installed without any problems. However, I get the fatal error, which originates from uidswap.c in function permanently_set_uid(): fatal: permanently_set_uid: was able to restore old [e]uid This happens even if "UsePrivilegeSeparation no" is used in sshd_config. It seems to be a problem
