MySQL package to install on CentOS/RedHad 6.x
I can see Oracle has packages for RedHad 5 but not for 6...
Should I install the rpm for redhad even though they are built against 5?
Or should I install the generic rpm package from Oracle? anyone knows the differences?
Thanks in advance

Manpages
Here is patch with manpages for ogg123(1), mp3tovorbis(1) and vorbize(1).
Manpages are in pod format,
because it is the most readable man source,
and are compiled by pod2man.
all and clean for man/ work.
Install and uninstall for man/ seem to work.
Manpages are GPLed of course.

a few more questions...
Hello everyone,
I sent the last email prematurely - I had a few more questions. I
don't wish to start a holy war here, but are there certain OSs /
Distros that are preferred for running very busy icecast servers?
We're a Solaris shop currently, but don't mind using linux or BSD if
that would make things easier.
I see there is a Fedora Core RPM on the icecast page - does that

still can't load oh323 - Are we not supporting H.323 any more?
Why is no one suggesting any solution here for this problem, which has been lingering for a while.
Are we not supporting H.323 on Asterisk?

Rapid deployment of CentOS on HP Proliant machines
Has anyone successfully deployed CentOS on HP Proliant servers using the Altiris Rapid Deployment (RDP) framework? This works out of the box with RHEL 5.1 but I have not been able to get this to work with CentOS 5.1. If anyone knows of an article on all the details to be able to deploy CentOS to a bare machine Proliant Server, I would appreciate a pointer. I did make the changes to the

Missing smb.conf
I hope that someone can help me with this:
I hav always used Samba by installing the binaries. That has worked
well.
But now I need the SSL-option - so I have to install it from the bottom.
I use redhad 6.0 - and samba 2.0.6.
First I removed the rpm of the existing installation(and deleted the
smb.conf in /etc).
Then I gunziped/untared the file in tmp. In the source directory I did

Help needed to compile R with shared library.
Hi,
I cannot compile R with shared library.
I am using Redhad Linux on Dell hardware.
Here''s what I am doing:
I set ?PICFLAGS in config.site file:
CPICFLAGS=-fPIC
FPICFLAGS=-fPIC
and issue:
./configure --enable-R-shlib --prefix=$HOME/newR
make
configure finishes with no complaints, the last
informative line being:

Internet explorer not authenticating properly
Hi all,
We are having a an ongoing problem with out NTLM authentication on out
squid system.
The problem tends to arise when users change their passwords.
I have read a KB article that says that DC's will still continue to
authenticate
Old password for an hour or so after the password is changed.
But I think it is between IE and winbindd that is the problem.
Below is a trace at debug

Re: cron job madness
Hey,
> check-update sounds better than putting yum update
in a cron job. Only a mad man would do that!
Are the cAos and CentOS releases THAT BAD?
> Much better to run a daily cron which rsyncs your
local patch repository.
So must one have your own local repository to avoid
being labeled as a madman?
In which one of the RedHad reference books can I find
this?
Just curious.

High l-avg with centos 4.8 on G2 only
Hi
We deployed centos 4.8 on HP DL380 G2, G3 and G4 servers (same number of cpus). The same software is running on all servers.
Only on G2 servers we see a low cpu utilization combined with high load-average.
For example, during the same time of day and same workload, on a G2 I see a l-avg of 11.31 and on a G4 I see 2.68.
The server response time seems unchanged and we don't have any problem

WinNT authentication problem
I am a newbie here and I have been going around in circles with this problem.
I have set up samba to use encrypted p/w and use a WinNT4 sp4 client with
registry changed for plaintextpasswords.
I can 'map network drive' successfully and peruse all the shares but if I try
to use the 'Network Neighborhood', then I can see the shares (so I guess that I

Loss of browsing with Samba 2.0.6
Hi,
I recently upgraded from Samba 2.0.4 to Samba 2.0.6, and have had a problem
with browsing. My Sun Ultra450 (Solaris7) is controlling all aspects of
network browsing, and I had no problems before.
Occasionally, all of Network Neighbourhood will disappear. This message
appears in log.UNKNOWN in my samba logs:

Install question
I have been running Fedora for a number of years and have decided that
for my mailserver system (which doubles as a small time web server) I
want to go to an OS that has a supported lifespan of more than a year,
especially since this machine has in the past been up longer than a year
without reboots.
The machine that it will ultimately host the OS is a dual processor P3
machine with 2GB of

Problem installing Theora. help please
Hello.
I am running cpanel on redhad linux 9 with the latest patches.
I want to install icecast and icecast requires Theora to be installed.
So after running the autoconf of Theora, I ran make and then make
install.
The output of make install is below.
Now, when I want to install icecase from the rpm, I get this error:
rpm -i icecast-2.2.0-1.i386.rpm

ACLs are applied recursively to sub mailboxes
Hi *,
The problem is most noticeable when a user shares his INBOX[0][1] with
others:
User A sets his INBOX acls to "eilprwtsd"
Now User B can see _all_ sub mailboxes and sub sub [...] mailboxes and
their contents of User A:
