NT and slow logon
Hi, still got the problem of NT slow logon, what am I doing wrong? This is the situation: Samba running on Unixware 2.1.1, SVR4 and RedHad. Win95 and smbclient in any unix works fine. A win NT machine sees the workgroup, but browsing to it takes a LONG time ( 3 or 4 minutes or so..) and when the machines appear ( redhat, unixware and SVR4 ) it again takes a lot of time to log on, after that

How to use multiple link-dest directories?
Hi guys, I hope this is not considered a stupid question, but it really seems to be something that needs to be covered with a decent example in the man page. I have looked in every piece of documentation I can think of and have found no answer. So I want to use the multiple link-dest directories feature as of 2.6.4. (I am using 2.6.6) My understanding of how this should work is that I can

75 seconds timeout when negotiating with smbd.
Hello all, After upgrading to 3.0.23c on my FreeBSD 6.1 box Samba stopped working on any connections. When connecting to smbd, tcp session is established (SYN, SYN+ACK, ACK) then a client send a NEGOTIATION packet, and after some timeout (about 10-15 seconds) this tcp session is closed (by the client) because no response to NEG. packet was received. Then after 75 seconds (counting from the

Guest access under Win XP plus printing
Hi, I had Samba all working, but then I upgraded to samba 2.2.1a and windows from 98 to XP. Printing no longer works, and I don't think guest access works properly either. Probably for the same reason. In windows it appears that connection to the printer is ok, but when you print it goes in the windows print queue and never gets to the linux box. In printer setup it says lp on

Reshape - strange outputs
Dear R Users, I am using the reshape package to reformat gridded data into column format using the code shown below. However, when I display the resulting object, a single column is fomed (instead of three) and all the latitude values (which should be in either column one or two) are collected at the bottom. Also, the NA values aren't removed, despite this being requested in the code. Code:

patches for UnixWare v2.x pty (misc.c,configure.in)
I have attached two patches to the current source code. The first addresses the pty problems with UnixWare 2.x with connecting with SSH2. It sets the sigaction to SA_RESTART. This fixes UnixWare v2.x, but haven't heard any feedback as to effects on other OS'. The first patch is against misc.c. The second patch adds a section "*-*-sysv4.2uw2*" to configure to set the

Samba 1.9.18 on Unixware 2.1.2, Makefile problem (& solution, sorta)
Hello Samba gurus: I apologize if I'm not following some established protocol, I'm pretty new to samba and to this list. I just tried compiling samba 1.9.18 on UnixWare 2.1.2 and ran into a problem with UnixWare's /usr/ccs/bin/cc: it doesn't deal with the "-o" option in combination with the "-c" option well at all. It either ignores the "-o" or

sid_to_uid/public share problem
I've got a public share that any user is supposed to be able to access. But no matter who I try to connect as, I get the dreaded: "NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER". Important info: Samba version: 3.0.28a, OS: Kubuntu 8.04 Looking at the logs, I think the problem is here: auth/auth_util.c:create_token_from_username(1116) sid_to_uid for pcguest

OpenSSH 2.3.0p1 bug with SCO UnixWare 7.1.0
I wasn't sur if you're the right person to send the bug reports to... SCO Unixware 7.1.0 (uname: UnixWare) and probably the 2.1.x versions (uname: UNIX_SV) requires also to have USE_PIPES defined. Also when compiling with tcpwrap it doesn't link due to the fact that UW doesn't have setenv() and libwrap have one built-in (duplicate symbols)... Also when using the SSH2 protocol to

Printing banners
Hi I'm running Samba 2.2.8a on a UnixWare 7.1.3 box. I'd set up the Samba printer shares, and it seemed to be working fine (only live for a couple of weeks). However, I've just added some heavy users, and the printer daemon keeps bombing out. I'd configured the printers to use lpr, but someone suggested I should use lp, so I thought I'd give this a go at the weekend.

Problem with NT encryption to Linux Samba Server
Hi all, I apologize if this question has been answered before. I'm very new to setting up samba server in RedHat linux 6.0 and accessing it from windows NT 4.0 SP3. I set up samba server (2.0.3) with encryption so that when I access it from NT, the NT box won't complain about sending password in a clear text over the wire. I created /etc/smbpasswd using mksmbpasswd.sh utility --snip of

How do I create a globally accessible directory [partly solved] (XP works/98 doesn't)
I just want a simple, globally accessible directory for anyone on my LAN. I don't care who they are, who they're logged in as on their windows machine, I don't care about security (it's my own private LAN!!!). Why is this so difficult to do? I've looked through the archives (which by the way, could someone spend a few minutes and put a SEARCH feature there. Following threads

adding a select or a poll?
Since I put my hands on dovecot, I had this recuring problem at startup: Imap-login would'nt connect to the 'default' socket. I've been strugling with the fact that it would eventually connect on a slow or moderely fast machine but not on a really fast machine. According to Unixware doc, the FIRST connect ALWAYS returns -1 and errno=EINPROGRESS AFAICT, imap loop is like this:

Printer access errors
Hi I'm set up Samba on a UnixWare 7.1.3 server, and had configured the printer shares. They're all global in the [printers] section. When I log in at a Windows XP PC as root, I'm able to print to all the printers. However, when I try to add a new printer or look at the print queue on the Windows client side as a different user, I see 'Access denied, unable to connect'
