SAMBA digest 1365 and SPAM
Hello to the list,
It seems that we have a leak. Someone is posting SPAM on this list. Since
the headers are not being propogated we can not really tell where it's
comming from.
I would suggest that we not respond by quoting the FULL TEXT from the SPAM,
however. This seems counter-productive, unless we LIKE repeating the
SPAMers message for them. I would think that someone, in an EDU, would

Using filter in an imapsieve script?
Hi Stephan
yes the imap_sieve plugin is added to the mail_plugins for imap.
Thanks for the hint with mail_debug. After enabling it I can see that
the program seems to be called, so filter should not be the problem.
But the result is that the message appears unencrypted in my sent folder

ANNOUNCE: alternate mail archive site
I really dislike ListProcessor, the mailing list software samba.org
uses. There's a lot of reasons, most having to do with header
rewriting, but that's not the point of this message.
One thing I don't like is its list archive feature. The archives are
hard to navigate, and the threading is atrocious. I'm accustomed to
MHonArc-generated archives, like they use at debian.org and

Survey on Open Source
Dear all,
I am conducting a survey on open source software. This is for my academic
coursework and dissertation. It will be great to have your support and
participation in this survey.
This survey has two separate questionnaires, focusing on the following
areas:
1) OSS development (Developers or those who contribute in coding or
documentation), and
2) IT/IS costs (CIOs or IT Managers).

Testing Samba and NFS/AMD inter-action
Hello all,
Some may find this redundant, but this addresses a lot of qustions that
I've been seeing, in the last few months, that were not dealt with, in the
whole. In this message, I am addressing only capabilities, not specific
HOW-TOs. It's more of a WHAT-IT-CAN-DO with a hint of
WHY-YOU-WOULD-WANT-TO. In the near view, treat this as a features test report.

Solaris winbind with password aging (workaround inside)
A few days back, I asked whether it was possible to have winbind co-exist with password aging on a Solaris system. Seems like there is no easy way around this.
After a few more days of frantic poking and truss-ing around, I found a crude but seemingly workable workaround.
It seems the the library /usr/lib/passwdutil.so.1 is the one
responsible for checking that the passwd entry in

Samba Shared Quicken files
Hello all,
I have a recently discovered problem. It's creating a crisis.
Most of my local GL is in Quicken. The Quicken data directory i on a Samba
share on one of my Linux boxen. I am running p11. I use "force user" and
"force group" to make sure that any entries are made under the same
permissions and uuid. The "ledger" directory is shared out to two

corrupted binary tree and index data files
Hi.
I am using dovecot 0.99.14 as an imaps server with mbox folders (in an
NFS-mounted directory) in x86 Debian testing. I have searched the
archives of this list and have seen other evidence of the problems I am
having. I get lots of log messages like these:

password problems (shadow?): 2.05a/slackware4.0 (fwd)
Hi all Samba Gurus,
I have problems getting my Win98 box to talk to my Samba Server.
I got Samba 2.05a, and ran configure and installed it.
Please see the attached smb.conf file for details.
Here are my problems:
1. It seems samba does not like

hosts allow = <list of hosts>
I need to do
hosts deny = ALL EXCEPT <list of hosts>

[trivial patch] link overloaded
This is just a trivial documentation change. The word
"link" is overloaded. It refers to symlinks, hardlinks and
network links. When looking for references to file links in
the manpages the network references get in the way.
This patch changes when reasonable to do so the word "link"
to "connection" when referring to the network.
This is just a suggested

csum-length documentation
I was startled to find that the --csum-length option is not
implemented even though it is documented in the manpage.
Not a good thing.
Here's a patch that removes the manpage entry. I'd much
rather not see this option and actually have the csum_length
be per-file dynamic. Either way this patch should be
applied at least until the code changes.
The patch also brings rsync.1 and

Asterisk Realtime Static Voicemail
Guys,
I need you help on this one.
Don't know when this broke but we have a custom gui that runs on top of Asterisk running a real-time static for configurations.
Nothing has changed with the database other than upgrades of Asterisk 10.
Customer complained that there password was not changing when they called into voicemail and changed it.
Database is running standard ast_config with the

generate 3 distinct random samples without replacement
Hello:
I wonder if I could get a little help with random sampling in R.
I have a vector of length 7375. I would like to draw 3 distinct random samples, each of length 100 without replacement. I have tried the following:
d1 <- 1:7375
set.seed(7)
i <- sample(d1, 100, replace=F)
s1 <- sort(d1[i])
s1
d2 <- d1[-i]
set.seed(77)
j <- sample(d2, 100, replace=F)
s2 <- sort(d2[j])
