deleting print jobs
hi,
i've a little problem with deleting print jobs. let me briefly explain.
i've several win95/win3.11 machines that print to linux machines running
samba (1.9.18 or 1.9.17, it depends). print services are all public, so no
password is needed to print. but when someone tries to delete his/her print
job, after a pause, the windows machine says that he/she has to contact the
administrator or

lex, yacc
Hi there!!
Can someone tell me where I can find 'supported' lex and yacc
utilities that work on NT?
Pardon me if this question is not relevant in this list..
Please send me the replies directly to my e-mail

is getting bigger and better..
Thanx in advance

browsing problem
I have managed to get it set up so that I can now use net commands to
mount shares from my linux box onto my windows box. But I still don't see
an icon for my linux box on the network niehborhood. I have waited and
waited and tried what seems like everything but can't get that stupid icon
to come up. Any ideas???

Network time sync and reverse NetBios name lookup
I made a somewhat deep check for time synchronization and I
couldn't find what I was looking for. What I need to do is synchronize
the clock on a Linux box to the clock on an NT server. I can't use NTP
or any other protocol because the NT box doesn't understand it. Any
pointers would be great.
The second issue is that I need to do (if possible) a reverse
NetBios name lookup by

Junk e-mail .... help needed!!!
Hi!!
Of late, I'm getting a lot of un-solicited mails from this
list, and inspite of un-subscribing mails, messages, threats
, nothing really seems to work...
My question:
1. Is there any way I can 'avoid' or 'bounce' incoming messages
at the mail-server level??
2. I cannot change my address (alias) as such... since this
involves sending reminders to God knows how many

IBM 4039 Laserprinter. Weird problem.
I have menaged to setup Samba services to share an IBM 4039 printer and have
tested another printer (Epson LX-800) on the PC. It works fine.
The weird thing, the IBM4039 will not print anything. All the jpbs will be
spooled. For each print job to be printed. I will need to switch off the
printer and switch it on again.
Have anyone encountered such problems before? I know there is basically

How to get nmbd to work?
I have NEVER been able to get nmbd to work in anything even remotely
approximating a usable fashion.
All I want it to do is DNS lookups.
I can't even get it to do that reliably. It looks in some cases like it
isn't even sending a response back to the querying clients.
When I do a request that fails, I get this:
---
nmb packet from 192.55.114.4(3175) header: id=8172 opcode=Query(0)

Configuring printer drivers
Hi,
I've been running a samba server for our small group of users (about 15) for
approx the last 18 months with great success. We use the server for both file
and printer sharing.
I had to make some modifications to the printer configuration today, and I've
got a quick question which arose from my tinkering.
I wanted to configure the server such that each of our printers can be used

Print Share Name Length
Hi all,
We (the Samba Team) need some feed back from our user community.
Anyone want to help out? All you need to do is post us a one liner.
Tell us if you want 8 character length limited print share names or larger.
If you really must have longer print share names - then how many characters?
Should we limit the length?

add one point to contourplot()
Hi All,
I want to add one point to contourplot(). I used contourplot() in my code like
contourplot(z ~ a + b |c, data)
I understand there is plot.axes argument for filled.contour(), but it did not work for my code. I also tried plot() and text() for contourplot(), but got this error: "plot.new has not been called yet"
Any suggestion for adding a point in contourplot()?
Thank you very

Printer Pool
Is there a way in samba to create a printer pool like you can do with NT?
I have two HP Network Printers (4000N) which I can setup and print to from
Win95, no problem. But I want to make the most "efficient" use of the
printers, as they are in a lab, sitting right next to each other...
Thanks...

change lattice panel background color
I can't find a way to change just the panel background color in lattice.
I would like NA regions in levelplot() to appear black. I've tried the
trellis.par.set() stuff, but it it makes the background of the whole
graphic black.

Interpretation of p-values, coxph
Hi guys,
I have been testing the hypothesis for difference of survival between four different classes. The p-values provided in coxph output are confusing for me to interpret.
Here is the output :
sur<-coxph(Surv(SURVIV, status == 1)~factor(A)+cluster(rownames(d)), data = d, model=TRUE)
Call:
coxph(formula = Surv(SURVIV, status == 1) ~ factor(A) + cluster(rownames(d)), data = d, model = TRUE)
