Problems with security = domain/server and samba 2.0.6
Every 12. day or so domain members changes passwords in the NT domain, and
after a while (5 minutes normally) the NT PDC starts to sync against the
BDCs in the domain. Before this syncing is done the authentication of new
connections usually fails. We have a pretty large NT domain with 40.000+
users and the syncing process can take up to one hour, causing samba
authentication to fail during this

PATCH - smbd/trans2.c to support writing to Unix named pipes(FIFO)
Hi,
We have a simple "Remote Procedure Call" mechanism that we are using to
communicate between Windows computers and our Unix Samba server.
The Windows application is proprietary software (Progress - not ours) and
we have to work within the constraints of it.
We have a Unix named pipe sitting in a Samba shared directory. We have a
small C program that runs as a Unix daemon,

smb_errno: class ERRDOS, code 112 from command 0xb
Hi.
We run Samba 2.2.1a in production and it seems to be working fine. We
run it on RedHat 7.2, kernel 2.4.7-10smp. All of a sudden (I'm sure
it's for a reason, but I can't tell why), this shows up in the logs:

smbclient problems
Hi
I am having some problems retrieving files from a particular share on an
NT4.0 server using smbclient. Other files from shares on the same server
transfer correctly.
I first noticed the problem when my AMANDA backups stopped backing up this
particular share just after xmas/new year. Some investigation revealed the
problem was always with the same file/group of files. There is no problem

smbfs intermittent errors: tdb_lock failed, ERRDOS 71
I mounted //winxp/linuxbu onto to a 2nd new mountpoint called
/mnt/buonwinxp. I got same errors as you.
So I first verified if password of the //winxp/linuxbu was wrong. With a
wrong password, I got response as below:
[root@treasury1 root]# smbmount //winxp/linuxbu /mnt/buonwinxp -o
username=linuxbu uid=root gid=root rw

ERRDOS - 50 when restoring a tar file
A collegue of mine has problems restoring files that are created with
smbtar. I also tried it (using smbclient -T) and encountered the same
problem. The tar file can be restored on unix without problem, but
restoring them on a PC results in the following error messages:

help!: session setup failed: ERRDOS
I have read the docs and I have googled, and I have been unable to fix
this problem. I have samba 3.0 installed on RH8 and when I have
settings like:
[global]
netbios name = DYER-PC-JO
workgroup = DYERLAB
server string = SMB Server Test
security = share
[public]
path = /tmp
guest ok = yes
writeable = yes
I can mount my share wonderfully in with both RH9 and OSX as clients.

smbfs intermittent errors: tdb_lock failed, ERRDOS 71
Hi,
I recently upgraded an older box running as a file server for a small
company to Mandriva (Mandrake) 10.1. It's running Samba 3.0.10.1, the
default Mandrake package.
We have a custom script that mounts a Windows share using smbfs, backs
up specific directories, and unmounts when it's done. The problem is,
it's not mounting reliably.
There is an entry in /etc/fstab for the

Typo in Samba HOWTO collection example 19.2
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi,
Since the samba-docs mailing list is closed, I figured this was the best
place to post this.
I believe there's a typo in example 19.2 ("Overriding global CUPS
settings for one printer") of the official Samba HOWTO collection. The
"print command" parameter in the [special_printer] section contains
several echo commands,
