Win95 connection to HPUX on 10.20
hello;
I've got a PC running Windows95 trying to connect to a HPUX box
running 10.20. The share it connects to works fine under
windows NT, but for windows 95 you do not get prompted for a
username to connect to.
It will come back with invalid password.
thanks much for your help.

Samba server rejects (Win95) request
Hi,
I am new to Linux, I am using RedHat version 6.0 and Samba 2.0.5a. I try to
set up a Samba Server for a LAN.
So far everything (i.e. installation) worked fine, I installed samba from
.rpm and nmbd, smbd is started at boot successfully. I can see the Samba
server in the Windows95 network environment, but when I doubleclick on it
or when I try to smbmount a service from another Linux machine I

copying files samba - win95: drops dead in the middle
When copying files from the Samba server to a Windows95 client or vv,
the speed varies dramatically. When I try to copy the same (20MB) file 10
times
some times it copies in less than 10 seconds. The next time it takes allmost
a
minute. And most worrying of all quite often the copying just stops halfway
in
the middle. The progress bar in Windows just stops. The traffic on the NIC

win95/95 clientside password changes?
Hey all,
first off, the subcribe mechanism seems to be broken somehow ( I get
timeouts ), so please cc my email address when replying to the list.
I have a samba server installed for a medium/small network with
roughly 25 windows client machines. The all use domain logons and
mount various shares depending on which groups they belong to. The
server is a debian machine (v2.2 kernel 2.2.18) with

Win95, sharing printers and drives
I have two computers ROLAND (RedHat 5.2 and Samba) and LINDA
(Windows95).
I am already able to print on the printer connacted to LINDA. Yesterday,
before I managed to get the printer working, I was alos able to see
ROLAND's directory 'tmp' and 'winD' on LINDA.
The problem that I saw this morning was that the printing still works
but LINDA can no longer see the shares of

win95, dialup networking, wins
Thats exactly what I have !
I have 2 interfaces, the dialup networking and an ethernet card installed.
I tried everything to get it to work on a per-connection basis, but it
just does not go. The ONLY way I got it to work was setting the wins
server in the main config and setting the dns in each of the dial-ups.
Its really weird that I can define dns on a per-connection basis but not
wins !?!

Home Directory Issue
I hope all is well with everyone. I've got sometime a little strange going on.
I'm running RHEL 6 and SMB Version 3.5.6-86.el6. I am using Samba so that my Windows users can mount a home directory share to their Windows machine, with my Linux/Samba server and the storage point, and their account is validated against out campus AD servers.
The issue I am having is that the share fails

SMB + Active Directory And No Ability To Delete Files And Folders
I hope that everyone is doing well. I'm new to the list and look forward to participating in the community. I've been using Samba for a long time and have always preached the samba gospel. :-)
I find myself with a peculiar problem. I have a RHEL6 install running Samba Version 3.5.4-68.el6_0.2 acting a local file server and it is tied into an Active Directory server for the user

Passwords fail from Win95 but not from DOS (Samba 1.9.16p11/NetBSD)
Hi,
I'm having some problems with Samba 1.9.16p11 on a Sun3/60 running
NetBSD 1.2. I have a Win95 client and a couple of DOS clients on a
single ethernet segment (it's at home :-).
I've set up a simple configuration, intention was just to serve files
from the Sun to the PC's. Everything works perfectly except
authentication from the Win95 client. I can connect to the Samba

NT 4.0 Client and Win95 clients and browsing problems in general.
I am using samba-1.9.16p11 and have not been able to make browsing work from my
9.04 HP where it is on a switched ethernet segement alone. I have tried many
combinations including remote announce to networks as well as Our NT Domain
Server/ Win Servers. All to no avail. I am sure there is some key point I am
missing. In fact my clients have to have DNS turned on in addition to WINS in

samba, OnNet and Win95
I'm running into a problem with Win95 clients and I hope someone
has a fix for this. Our servers are Solaris boxes providing
file services via both NFS and samba (1.9.16p11). The Win95
clients were recently upgraded to the latest version of FTP Software
OnNet which makes the NFS stuff almost transparent to the users.
I'm not sure how OnNet hooks in to Win95 but you could map a drive

Samba and Win95 printing problem
I am having some problems setting up the printing for samba and was wondering
if anyone has any ideas.
Samba 1.9.16p11 is running on a SparcStation 20 running SunOS4.1.3_u1.
Accessing the shares, like [homes], is successful. When attempting to
connect to a printer using Win95 with Service Pack 1, an error occurs. The
printer share name, host name, and printcap name are all the same and

Password problems with Samba on Alpha system
We have tried a couple of versions of Samba on an DEC Alpha running Tru64.
Most users can use this perfectly but a few get rejected at the password
authentication, and get logged on as guest users.
Machine is running NIS, and Makefile was generated automatically.
Win98 and Win2000 machines have had the "plain text password" patch to the
registry. Problem seems to lie on the server as
