samba / ggc binarys for HP-UX 9.04
Hello List,
I am searching the current samba binarys for a HP9000/827S with HP-UX
9.04. Unfortunately we have only the very basic C-compiler installed,
that won't do ANSI. Therefore, out attempts to compile gcc from source
failed too.
Is there anybody able to send me the current Samba binarys, or
alternetivly point me to a location for the binarys?
Does anybody know a location for gcc

Any HP-UX users left? was Re: Strange regression on FreeBSD buildslave regarding HP-UX scripts
Please see below. I think I know what is going on (it seems to be a make/gmake incompatibility), but to fix it, I need to rewrite some of the HP-UX packaging code, and I need a HP-UX user to help test this. Otherwise, I'm going to just rip it out for now, and add it back in when someone complains.

I just tried to build samba-1.9.18p7 (using gcc ver-2.7.2.1) on a
HP 9000/700 running HP-UX ver. 9.05, and I got this error message:

Cannot connect to OpenSSH 1.2.3 running on HP-UX 11.00
The server daemon writes the following error message to the syslog
(running on a HP 9000/712/80 box):
| Mar 28 18:01:54 <server> sshd[755]: Did not receive ident string from <client-ip>.
Any suggestions? This happens if I connect using OpenSSH from the
same box or another one (running the Linux version of OpenSSH).
BTW: OpenSSH didn't compile out-of-the-box. I had to disable

HP-UX 11i and largefiles on rsync
For all you folks out there using rsync on HP-UX, be warned that HP-UX
is still broken with regard to large files. I opened a bug report
with HP last year, as described here:
http://lists.samba.org/archive/rsync/2004-July/010226.html
I've been periodically checking on the status and today I was told
that it's been officially filed as a "we won't fix this", citing that

patch: openssh 3.9p1 on hp-ux 10.20
OpenSSH 3.9p1 does not compile on HP-UX 10.20 due to the code which was
added in includes.h to work around HP-UX 11.11's behavior. The following
patch lets it work on HP-UX 10.20. It should also work on HP-UX 11.11,
but I can't test that (no HP-UX 11 boxes here).
It uses code from http://www.faqs.org/faqs/hp/hpux-faq/section-213.html .

Samba problems with HP-UX
Hello, I'm Jeff P. Nuebel with Rockwell - Collins in Cedar Rapids,
Iowa. We run a large mixed network of Solaris, HP-UX, linux, NT, w2k, and
XP.
After testing/deploying 2.2.2 to 400+ workstations from 2.0.6 to 2.2.x, in
order for W2K and XP to see there home accounts living on departmental UNIX
production workstation, we have ran into problems on the HP-UX side of the

rsync 2.5.5: HP-UX 11.11 vs. Linux
I'm observing a rather strange behaviour when attempting to transfer files from
a Linux box (RH 7.3, kernel 2.4.19-rc1) to HP-UX 11.11 box. Both are running
rsync 2.5.5.
Everything starts off really nice an quick, but the transfer then slows down to
a crawl. On 100 Mb/s network I'm getting a few hunder bytes to a few hundred
kilobytes per second. Other programs, like RCP and FTP, do not

Antw: Ctrl-C problem on HP-UX
Hi Ryan,
I run into the same problem with my HP-UX 11 as well as HP-UX 10.20 boxes. Therefore I decided not to start the sshd from the swagent in the postinstall script. I start the daemon via the lan console by hand. I know in large environments it is not a perfect solution but the only one which works these days ;-((

HP-UX announces binary Secure Shell product based on OpenSSH sou rce
HP has taken OpenSSH version 3.1p1 and made a binary swinstall product for
HP-UX customers to use. The source is bundled with the product and is
slightly different than OpenSSH 3.1p1, but the changes made were just to
make the OpenSSH features work on HP-UX 11.00 and 11i.
HP-UX Secure Shell is a fully supported no charge product for HP-UX users
with a current HP-UX support contract, and is

SSH/SFTP from HP-UX to a Windows 2003 OpenSSH 3.8 -1p1
We have used OpenSSH version 3.8-1p1 on our Windows 2003 servers for the
last several years for SFTP connection to our HP-UX Open SSH version 3.9
servers. This is the first time having connections problems. The new
Window 2003 server is in a DMZ zone and our security policy software has
been set to allow port 22 to pass in/out for our HP-UX servers. I
have the sshd_config file the same as the

smbsh on HP-UX (SAMBA digest 1962)
I tried linking smbwrapper.so directly into bash, but that only works for
bash and not any of the subprocesses it runs. That is bash can cd into the
/smb directory and I can do an echo * to list files. But if I run a system
command (ls, emacs) they can't see the /smb directory because they aren't
linked with smbwrapper.so.

Playing streams on HP-UX 11i
Does anyone know a player to recommend for HP-UX 11i? I have a listener
who wants to listen under HP-UX, and having not used it I'm not sure
what's available. Is there anything that should already be included in
HP-UX that would handle ogg or mp3 streams? If not, is there are a
player that you know will compile easily so he can listen? If I had it

RE : Successfuly Building Samba 2.2.X under HP-UX 11i with gcc
Hello,
just for my information, what happens if you append "-D_HPUX_SOURCE" ?
Some (long) time ago (HP-UX 10.x), it would help compiling foreign software on HP-UX. But I had only at hand the HP compiler.
Regards,
J?r?me

Problems with SAMBA 2.2.2 Locking Databases Running on HP-UX 11.00 64 Bit
Hi,
I have been trying to get Samba 2.2.2 to run on HP-UX 11.00 64 bit, but seem
to be running into problems with the locking databases. (Note : this is
running the smb.conf file from the examples directory in SAMBA 2.2.2). I
have tried to two different servers and both of them generate the same
result described below.
The problem I have hit is after compiling samba and starting up the system
