Redhat Linux and Samba crashing
Hi Folks, A while back I sent a asked a question about Running the Quakeworld server and samba together under Redhat Linux 4.2. I was experiencing complete system lock ups. Anyway, I think I have narrowed the problem down. It's nothing to do with the Quakeworld server though. I can reliably (!?) make my Redhat Linux system crash (totally seize up) by running this simple batch file below on

Problems with Self extracting zip files
Hi folks, I have a curious problem when executing self extracting zip files from a samba share. Everything does work, but it is very very slow. Copying the .exe onto local disk (from the samba share) takes no time at all (500kb/sec). I would say it takes about 10 times as long to unzip when run directly from the samba share. This happens will all self-extracting exe files, and also from any share

[LEARNING OUTCOME] Wi-Fi WPA Hacking Tool is Totally Useless on New Wireless Routers
Hi, I am sharing my learning outcomes. Recently I downloaded Kali Linux 64-bit Version 2018.1 and ran it on my HP laptop with the integrated Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 Wireless Network Card. I wanted to test if I could hack the Wi-Fi WPA password on Ruckus R700 Access Point (AP) and the Aztech DSL8900GR(AC) Wireless Router. So I started using the Reaver WPA cracking tool. I understand

Winamp plugin installation
Okay, this is a nitpick but I gotta do it. First the background: I'm trying to convince a diehard mp3 coworker of mine to use ogg for his personal project along side of mp3 and having a tough time. His gripe is that the default players all support mp3 (Winamp and wma) but not ogg and that his listeners won't want to go out and install it. We have now set up a huge shared drive on the

SAMBA digest 2065
Hi, Thanks for your help. I set my samba debug level = 3. How to run it with verbose logs? I can't find it under samba-1.9.17p4/docs. Where can I find troubleshooting docs? Could you tell me the web site address? I can't find it under http://us1.samba.org/samba/. I tried running net view \\morpheus (that is our linux) and got the following: On NTs: c:\> net view \\morpheus

set condition in R
Hi, R users, I'm using while() in R to set a condition. My condition is: i<523 or i>535. How should I write this in R? I try "while (i<523 or i>535)" and it does not work. Thanks. cd-rom drive for linux
Hi, I have a question about cd-rom for linux system. Although it is not related to samba directly, I believe many people in this group are expert about linux and may give me correct answer. I am going to buy a pc to install linux (the most recent slackware one). My question is: do I need a scsi cd-rom drive to install and run linux on the machine? is the regular one enough? -- if yes, I can

crash of xen-system when accessing cdrom
Hello together, I already sent the message below to xen-users a few days ago, but didn''t get an answer. So I hope that here on xen-devel is someone who has some ideas (or is using XEN on this specific system and can confirm this isn''t a problem within xen itself but with this specific BIOS or sth. similar :-) ). ---------- I''ve just setup a new gentoo-system to get

wine reading iso images as cdrom ?
Hello all, I keep iso images of my most commonly used cdroms on the harddisk so I don't have to find them. Can I set up a cdrom drive in my wine config that points to the isos, and have wine think its a cdrom drive ? Thanks, Andy

Question about many-to-one merge
I have spent a whole afternoon searching for the solution, but got nothing so far. It should be a simple problem. I have two datasets to merge. The first one just contains two ID columns and it looks like: FromID ToID 1 2 1 3 2 1 2 3 3 1 3 2 The second one contains a ID column and a variable: ID X 1 100 2 150 3

[LLVMdev] ATS workaround for Clang 3.5
The ATS community is having trouble with clang. They had been using an older version of clang and upgraded because newer versions give higher quality warning messages. Unfortunately, with 3.5, moving from -O1 to -O2 triggers a crash on startup in the clang-generated executable. I had suggested building with -fsanitize=undefined and -fsanitize=address to weed out any dependencies undefined

Generate Random Draw from Gamma Distribution Re: Monte Carlo Simulation in R...
Exactly! Thanks, Duncan. Let me re-phrase me question like this: 1) X_i values are independent Gammas, with the shape 0.067 and scale 0.008 2) Min(X)=1 and Max(X)=85 3) SUM(X)=2000 4) Do I also have to define the number of draws? if yes, it could be 250. Based on these restrictions, I want to generate random draw. I'm wondering how I can do this in R. Thanks. Garry On Tue, Nov 10, 2009
