Private shares problem
Hi, I have something weird going on and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have Samba 2.2.8a running on FreeBSD 5.1 with NTLM authentication. I have been able to get a public share to work and it authenticates fine. When I try to create a private share with only 1 or 2 users having access it asks for a user name and password and when I supply the username and password it won't

Size of locking.tdb?
Hi folks. I continue to fight with regular locking database damage in Linux box. See Bugzilla Bug 370. The current question to gurus: what is the RIGHT behavoir of locking.tdb size? Should it decrease when the number of records decreases? Or, it should stay at maximal reached capacity? Alexey

problem using embedded R
I have a peculiar problem with an application that uses embedded R. The application comes with its own copy of R installation and it sets up correct environment path for the process during the startup. However, when I execute R code that loads an additional package (e.g. library(XYZ)), the environment path gets reset to the system's default value, which renders R unusable. I wonder if anyone

Yet Another LDAP Question
Hi All, I know this must have been discussed around here a million times, but I really didn't find this info anywhere else and I'm on a deadline here. I already have an FC1 server with a working LDAP directory in production. The same server runs a Samba PDC, but not with LDAP functionality yet. All I need to know right now is if I have to include some standard user and group

ppp interfaces for both loc and net
Hi, I''m in a process of setting up a firewall system, which is going to be also an ipsec/l2tp and pptp vpn server for some mobile clients. The problem is, that the system has two ISPs a cable one (no problems here) and a DSL provider. Because of the DSL provider the system is going to have one pppN interface for DSL (net zone) and many pppX interfaces for l2tp/pptp (loc zone)

password ldap clarification requested...
Dear list, I would like to know if the following statements are true, just to make sure that my understanding of passwords/ldap stuff is correct... Vampireing passwords from an nt4 pdc only populates the ldap server with windows passwords, and not the (linux) userPassword. Authenticating linux logons against this ldap server is therefore only possible using winbind. 'Normal' ldap
