SPAM: Get Rich NOW!!
Hello root@inet.hkg.com,
It looks like someone, at your end, is leaking SPAM into the Samba list.
The apparent source of this SPAM is <inet.hkg.com> which, unbelieveably, is
a real address. They are then relay-raping the Singapore Network to get it
into this list.
After careful deliberation, I have conciously decided to forward this one
message into the samba lists. All future SPAM

SAMBA digest 1365 and SPAM
Hello to the list,
It seems that we have a leak. Someone is posting SPAM on this list. Since
the headers are not being propogated we can not really tell where it's
comming from.
I would suggest that we not respond by quoting the FULL TEXT from the SPAM,
however. This seems counter-productive, unless we LIKE repeating the
SPAMers message for them. I would think that someone, in an EDU, would

SAMBA digest 1365/ commercial ads
I hate to suggest this, but we need to do what has been done on a few other
lists that I'm on. We need to close the list off to only people that are
members.
It's a shame to see so much spam here after seeing it in my personal
mailbox all day long.

LMTP proxying
How exactly is LMTP proxying supposed to work?
According to the example on
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/PasswordDatabase/ExtraFields/Proxy
I'm only seeing "proxy" in the password_query statements.
But LMTP never sends a password.
IMAP Proxying is working OK:

We have been using samba since 1995 and have found it superb, Thanks to

[trivial patch] link overloaded
This is just a trivial documentation change. The word
"link" is overloaded. It refers to symlinks, hardlinks and
network links. When looking for references to file links in
the manpages the network references get in the way.
This patch changes when reasonable to do so the word "link"
to "connection" when referring to the network.
This is just a suggested

csum-length documentation
I was startled to find that the --csum-length option is not
implemented even though it is documented in the manpage.
Not a good thing.
Here's a patch that removes the manpage entry. I'd much
rather not see this option and actually have the csum_length
be per-file dynamic. Either way this patch should be
applied at least until the code changes.
The patch also brings rsync.1 and

Please help me understand why I am unable to connect to and browse the
newly configured DFS tree that I installed on my Samba server according
to the instructions found in Chapter 18. "Hosting a Microsoft
Distributed File System Tree" of the official how-to.
Irrespective of whether I try to access the dfs file tree from either

I use Samba4.0alpha14 als PDC and Samba3.5.4 als File- an Printserver on different (virtual) machines. On both machines a bind-dnsserver is running (master and slave).
The Samba3-Machine is configured as local master browser and as a domainmember of the samba4-machine.

inside linux )
It is a shame it is a little unstable

Sweave line length
Hello,
I am trying to add R code to my dissertation and the length of a line
of text that Sweave generates is longer than the right margin in my
dissertation. I have found no way to tell Sweave how to set the line
length. I am using an iMac with tiger ver. 10.4.10, and R: ver.
2.5.1. Here is the R code that is longer than my right margin:
