Problems with SMBCLIENT
Hi all,
I am running SunOS 5.5.1 and am getting all sorts of problems. I am urgently in need of help.
My Unix skills are limited.
My first problem is starting the daemons.
bind failed on port 139 socket_addr=0 (Address already in use)
My second problem is the difference in the number of files dumped with either smbtar or
smbclient. Here is the command that gives me the most problems. Notice

Rsync with non-english characters in filenames?
Hi,
I am trying to use rsync to migrate homefolders from one server to
another. For this I use:
> rsync --rsh="ssh -l root" -vaz beaucent.ling.umu.se:/export/home/ .
Which works fine until I get to some files where the user has,
unfortunatelly, used a non-ascii character in the file name:

PXELINUX - no boot file found
PXELinux from a DHCP server - read the docs - couldnt be simpler.
I'm afraid its beaten me, no matter what I do I always get the same result
at the client side
"PXE-E53: No boot file found"
For the life of me I cannot see what I'm doing wrong and would appreciate
any assistance in trying to diag.

smbclient and large file support
smbclient (and smbtar) in version 2.2.7a (and prior) has problems with
large files (> 4GB). The following patch (against 2.2.7a) fixes all
known problems with this. This code has been checked into the CVS tree
in all branches as well.

We used to hide some information from our windows group, to make acls
only in unix groups. But well.. i think we can start sharing that info
with the domain groups.

setfsmac and LOMAC aux grades - inconsistent behaviour
A bit of a background: I've been experimenting with LOMAC labels on a
9.1-RELEASE test system. To get the dynamic IP assigned to the machine, I
tried following recipe: set the label for /sbin/dhclient to
lomac/high[low]. This gets the job done, but there were a few problems:
first of all, this label does not seem to persist after a reboot - I have
not yet found a reasonable explanation

multiple DCs / rsync / sysvol / xattr acls
Hi,
i have two DCs and they are replicate find. No errors. I use rsync to replicate the sysvol folder. If I have a Windows 7 Machine over time it both DCs are used to load the GPOs. When the Second DCs is used I get a GPO error. I found that the folders and files are not with the correct xattr acls. I user rsync with -X to sync xattr acls. I sed getfacl to compare the uids. I use sernet 4.1.9 but

force create mode issue
Dear List,
I'd like to report my observations on a Samba new file permissions problem
for which I found
dozens of support requests on the net without any useful replies.
Hopefully, my observations help identify the root cause of this issue which
also seems to occur
with new Samba versions 3.0.x.
In our domain we operate a file server under Samba 2.2.8a as PDC. Overall we

reencoding: ices/lame with otto
i have installed ices with lame suport (thanks to all who helped!), and
it happily reencodes bitrates.
i have installed otto, and that too is brillient
however i can't get otto to call ices in such a way that it will
reencode stuff streamed thru otto...
when i have had ices working with reencoding, i've configured it via the
xml config file rather than with command line switches

a few ices/icecast questions
I've been through this on the list a while back. Unfortunately what you
are asking is not possible, nor are the authors of ices interested in
solving your problem :) I'd recommend ices-0.0.1.beta5.tar.gz (as
recommended by otto's author) and seeing otto/misc/icecast/ices.readme.
I use the recommended setup things run great.

PLEASSSSEE HELP
ok from the beginning ..
the "otto mp3" is a software piece that can take a lot of mp3s , put
them in a mysql data base and then can
1. play requests that users make on the web interface out to the
sound card
2. stream the song to the browser using icecast and ices.
now the icecast and ices in "general" configurations works with
either a playlist or mp3s if i am not

AW: problem logging on to samba domain (pdc) from a win xp workstation
I had assumed that already and did that manually.
Might I have to change further keys on my xp workstation in the control
panel in order to become a domain member of my samba domain?
Why doesn't the workstation find the domain controller = samba pdc at
logon time? Do I have to modify any host file on XP, install a dns
server?
Cheers,
Dominik
