Help needed getting rsync to copy from windows to mac
I'm trying to use rsync to copy files from a Microsoft Windows machine
(XP, with cygwin) to a macintosh (10.5.8, PPC).
After a lot of playing with options, manual page reading, etc, I have
the following command, executed on the windows machine:
rsync -A -X -a --delete --rsync-path="/opt/local/bin/rsync
--fake-super --log-file=/tmp/rlog.txt" /cygdrive/c/DRIVERS

Operation not supported (95)
Greetings!
During migrating i686 installation of ArchLinux to x86_64, all filesystem was rsynced to a new location. Maybe this somehow relates to the problem that has appeared after migrating and that did not happen before: during backuping the system, rsync reports the following error message:
rsync: set_acl: sys_acl_delete_def_file(var/log/journal/remote): Operation not supported (95)

I did some search about this error before asking this question, and
in other case unsupported ACLs were indeed the cause. But btrfs
supports ACLs:
[root at kw al]# getfacl /mnt/backup/rootdir/var/log/journal/remote

Getting errors with 3.0.8
Hello!
I've been trying 3.0.8 on OS X 10.6.7 today and have been getting some errors. The command I'm using is:
/usr/local/bin/rsync -aNHAXx --protect-args --fileflags --force-change --progress /Users/davidallie/Documents/ /Volumes/david.allie/Documents/
The target Documents folder is on an iDisk mounted as david.allie . The errors are happening at the beginning and end.

If the filesystem doesn't support ACLs then don't use -A.
Also, why is there samba between rsync and btrfs?

rsync parameters errors
In my new bash script, I'm doing what I think is a very simple rsync
command the way I'm used to doing it. I just do a lot of setup and
checking before I get to it.
When I run it, it gets very unhappy with me. It's probably something
very simple.
I need to build the rsync command in a string so that some things can go
away - like if my variables DRY_RUN and DELETE are undefined,

\VignetteKeywords{}, for KEYWORDS or for free-tagging?
Hi R-devel,
[Question]:
* Is there a KEYWORDS file to lookup 'keywords' to supply
the vignette command, '\VignetteKeywords{}'?
-or, is the pkg writer free to tag the vignette using any
keywords he/she chooses? i.e., free-tagging.
Thank you,
+ Elliot Kleiman

booting from local disk
Hi,
I've mostly set up a kickstart for RedHat 8.0.
I'm using the instructions posted by Alf W. :
http://www.stanford.edu/~alfw/PXE-Kickstart/PXE-Kickstart.html
The whole thing works, except when I go to reboot the system it hangs.

Session Logging
I'm using R from a Linux command prompt, and am logging the
whole session by tee'ing the R invocation line. ie. R | tee -a Rlog.txt
Is there a better way to log all the session input and output from
within R?

[patch] NFSv4/ZFS ACLs
This is a PoC patch for NFSv4/ZFS ACLs.
The objective of the patch is that rsync --acls support NFSv4/ZFS ACLs
without requiring a new command line option
NFSv4 ACLs can't be represented using POSIX draft ACLs, if an NFSv4 ACL is
present a separate POSIX draft ACL will not be present and there are new
APIs
to access NFSv4 ACLs. So we need to distinguish between NFSv4 ACLs and
POSIX

sieve vacation to an alias group
I am curious to know how did you define the filter on an alias in the
first place ? is it a filter defined globaly in dovecot ? I don't see
how it can be defined in any individual mailbox. Can you show the
dovecot/sieve configuration to achieve this ?
Yassine.
