Patch submitted to add a "move-existing" functionality
Hi Folks; I've already created a case and submitted a patch in the rsync bugzilla: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8367 I'm posting here to reach a wider audience. The use case is one where rsync is being used to replicate files from a source to a destination, with the --remove-source-files flag being used. The files on the source are created sequentially, based on the file

strange behaviour of certain fields in data frame after rbind
Can anybody explain me what is going wrong with the rbind command or how I could avoid the problem? I have a script with loops which time has a dataframe as output (called T2sbdata). After each loop I would like to append that dataframe to the results I obtained from the previous loops (called T2sbdataALL) and use for that purpose rbind. Below a part of the loop and the result I get. The

grub problems
This is irritating: I've got a server I just upgraded to 5.4, then rebooted, only to discover that it just *sits* there at the grub boot menu. I looked at grub.conf, and uncommented hiddenmenu (which should have been done long ago). It *still* sits there when I reboot. Any clues, folks? mark grub.conf: #boot=/dev/sda default=0 timeout=5 splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz

how to log only opened files via vfs_modules?
I have share with a lot of scan files with .tif extension. They are grouped in catalogs by years for example 2006 2007 2008 etc. I would like to log open files (open scanned files .tif) by users. But /var/log/messages shows a lot of useless informations!!. For example user fujitsu opened only file 11005_07.tif in windows explorer. In /var/log/messages I can't exactly know which file was

NFS issue
I am currently running K12LTSP on Centos 5, which is working well but without sound on most machines(ok all). So in order to remedy this and the cd-burning issue I have decided to try to install CentOS locally on one machine and then apply the personalizations via NFS. Steps: I editted the /etc/exports to export the /home dir as per the NFS howto and that seemed to work as the user homes were

ow to force samba to allow write specified filename to folder
Hello I have directories named as the names of years eg. 2009 2010 etc. And in this folders eg. 2009 folder there are scanned .tif files like this: 10_09.tif 229_09.tif 3890_09.tif 3890_1_09.tif etc. I would like to samba check correct filenames eg. in folder 2010 there shouldn't be any flies from xxxx_09.tif eg. 229_09.tif only 229_10.tif (_10.tif and vice versa in 2009 there

shutdown -h doesn't
I've got a fresh CentOS 7 test machine, fully patched. The command: shutdown -h now surprisingly does not halt the machine. Instead it reboots it. WTF? I found the following Debian discussion which seems to be the same issue: <https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=766338> However, removing kexec-tools in this case did not solve the problem. Nor does

removing a specific number of digist from a character string
Hello, I would like to remove the last 8 digists of character strings in a vector. Below I added a couple of elements from that vector. I have a problem defining a pattern to replace the digits using for example "sub". Removing the ".tif" part works fine using sub('.tif',"",x), but how do I get rid of the four preceding digits? Thanks for your help, Kim

concatenate vector after strsplit()
ls is a list of character vectors created by strsplit() I want to concatenate the 1st 4 character elements of each list item as a new vector called file. I admit to being confused about list syntax even after numerous readings. Here's what I tried: ls <- list(c("Focused", "10k", "A12", "t04.tif", "+", "µm"),

BIND segway -> python -> first-class ports
On 12/4/13, 9:05 AM, Mark Felder said: ----------------- > There was no alternative; we couldn't keep BIND in base. I'm coming more and more to the conclusion that we should have a minimal Python in "base". More and more people
