Mysterious connection disappearances
I installed a samba server about a week ago for a client and have been having some trouble with it. The two problems that occur are: 1. The "Microsoft mail postoffice" occasionally has files with deny_all locks on them that prevent other users from sending email to the user. My first impression was that this was an Outlook issue, but rebooting the entire (client) computer does not

dumb developer explodes yum
hey guys, One of our developers DESTROYED both yum and rpm on one of the development machines with an rm command. And guess who's lucky enough to get to fix this mess? *raises hand* So I hope y'all don't mind me turning to you once again for some advice. You've been wonderful in the past. Pavlov's dogs as they say. At any rate, I've managed to fix rpm (yay) by copying

v3.0.0, AD, 2k3 mumbles
I'm running a Samba 3.0.0 server in production in security = ADS mode against a W2k ADS server. Works just fine, thanks! We're sort of under pressure to regrade to a 2003 AD server, which sent me trying stuff out a bit. Meager results. The 3.0.0 I have (linked with MIT krb5-1.2.8) refuses to verify incoming tickets: [2003/10/28 16:27:36, 3]

Samba embedded device?
I've been thinking about this for 2 years. I held back waiting for samba 4 DC stability. It was a mistake to wait this long. It seems that AD DC functionality in samba for is really good -- and stable. I was thinking of using Intel NUC devices for this. I am running a school with 3 campuses and about 800 students and 200 facutly of a zotac box running samba 4.1.x. I would love to collaborate

rsync operation times out on excluded directory
Hello list, I have the following problem for awhile now. A backup script is running on server Backup. Every night a complete backup of /home is made of server Server, using rsync over SSH. (rsync version 3.0.2 on Debian/Linux) Now. There is one user, that has a NFS mount in his homedirectory on Server "/home/username/mnt". This user uses NFS to access his laptop's filesystem. At

How to unstick ZFS resilver?
I have a large (88-drive) zpool in which a drive was recently replaced. (The pool has a bunch of duff Toshiba MK2001TRKB drives -- never ever pay money for these! -- and I'm trying to replace them one by one before they fail completely.) The resilver on the first drive replacement has been taking much much too long, and currently it's stuck in this state: pool: export state: DEGRADED

Question: PV ops Fedora 16 Initialises Hypercall Page Twice?
Xen Developers, I noticed that my PV ops guests cause the hypervisor to invoke hypercall_page_initialise twice from traps.c (i.e. through wrmsr_hypervisor_regs), for different hypercall_page addresses. Looking at the code, I see hvmloader.c causing one of those, in its main. I read the HVM Loader Xen wiki page, Googled, spelunked the source, etc. but cannot find where / why the other hypercall

Serial Console Not Connecting to Dom0 on Ubuntu Server 12 Running Xen 4.1.3
Xen-users, I have what I think is a bug in the serial console interaction of Xen and Ubuntu. Essentially, the serial console appears to work just fine until it is passed off to dom 0 from Xen. Then it stops communicating with dom0, but still communicates with Xen, if I use the control-A escape sequence. Google will not show me anything related to this. I have local RS-232 serial console working

rsynd-2.5.1 / io.c patches
Platform: Compaq OpenVMS Alpha 7.3 Compiler: Compaq C T6.5 The following patch resolves compile problems with the IO.C module. The (char) type was being used where (void) was more appropriate based on the actual use of the code. The (char) type was also being used where the usage was actually an (unsigned char). const qualifiers were added to improve compile efficiency. EAGLE> type

Taking the derivative of a quadratic B-spline
Hello, I have been trying to take the derivative of a quadratic B-spline obtained by using the COBS library. What I would like to do is similar to what one can do by using fit<-smooth.spline(cdf) xx<-seq(-10,10,.1) predict(fit, xx, deriv = 1) The goal is to fit the spline to data that is approximating a cumulative distribution function (e.g. in my example, cdf is a 2-column matrix with x
