configure --with-catman is supposed to be --with-mantype
There's a typo in configure.in that's specifying --with-catman as an
option but the help message says --with-mantype. Here's a patch.

Problem with ssh-keygen
Dear Developer,
I'm having problem running ssh_keygen on my solaris 7 box. Can you
please tell me as to why I'm getting this error as described below? I
don't have that problem with solaris 8 that runs SMCossh 3.0.2p1
Thanks in advance.

Solaris 8: RSA_padding_check_PKCS1_type_1:block type is not 01
Hi,
I have a returning problem with one of my sparc Solaris machines. I have a
Ultra2 with two 296MHz processors. All recent combinations of
openssh/openssl have a not permanent problem. If i try to connect to the
machine, i get sometimes these errors:
# ssh root at simba
RSA_public_decrypt failed: error:0407006A:rsa
routines:RSA_padding_check_PKCS1_type_1:block type is not 01

Tripp-Lite BCPERS450 shutdown/restart problems
Thanks again for your help, Charles. I was able to install the Tripp
Lite software on my Ubuntu machine, and it sort of works. It does
something which continually changes the USB device ID of the UPS, and
prints voluminous error messages in the log. However, one of the things
that it can do is to schedule a UPS shutdown, which Nut does not know
how to do.
So I monitored the USB port with

Patch for unformatted manpages
The attached patch (relative to the current CVS snapshot) uses a perl
script to convert the OpenSSH manpages from the BSD -mdoc format to
the -man format used by other systems. This allows the unformatted
manpages to be installed normally, rather than defaulting to
preformatted pages.
I'd like to see this patch integrated into the portable version of
OpenSSH. Please let me know what you

Samba: 32 or 64 bit
All
Due to an application issue I need to let app support know whether the
version of Samba we are running is 32 or 64 bit. We are running Samba
2.2.8 on Solaris 8 (64 bit mode). Aplogies if this is really obvious but I
have looked many places with no luck.
It was installed from a file containing Solaris packages -

SCO Openserver Patch
I downloaded the Openssh-2.3.0p1 file and ran configure only to have it
fail reporting the lack of libz. I found that configure was failing
beacuse the test program did not include the libtinfo and libm which are
needed to resolve references in libprot. I made changes to the configure
script to add those libraries for SCO Openserver and then tried to compile
the programs only to run into another

[PATCH] do not invoke sub-make unless the 'cd directory' succeeds
If for some reason (directory missing or permissions bad), it is
not possible to cd into either the scards or openbsd-compat direcotries, the
make will enter an infinite loop. Correct this by changing the make idiom
(cd directory; $(MAKE))
to the idiom
(cd directory && $(MAKE))
so that a failure to cd into directory will generate an error for make.

man pages won't work
Hi,
I am sorry about this stupid question but after compilation of openssh-2.3.0p1 the manpages were installed but a man ssh gives only unstructured response without underlined lines etc. A nroff -man sshd.8 gives the same output but the contents of the file shows a nroff-format.
Any ideas?
My system is a HP-UX 11.000 with the pam-patch.

Stephan

1.2.3pre2 works great on Solaris 2.7 except man
Right out of the box (after I made Damien's LDFLAGS fix in configure) using
gcc-2.95.2. The only problem I have now is the man pages. I still can't
read them using Solaris nroff, and when I tried to build with
--with-catman=cat, I got the following during a make install:
/rtr/bin/install -c -m 644 ssh.[01].out /usr/local/man/cat1/ssh.1
Try `/rtr/bin/install --help' for more

CentOS 7, man
This is... odd.
>From my workstation, where I'm directly logged in, if I ssh to any CentOS
7 box, as myself, and try to run man, it fails.
Example 1:
man dd
man:
cannot write to /var/cache/man/cat1/dd.1.gz in catman mode
dd.
Example 2:
man dd
man: can't chmod (null): Bad address
man: can't unlink (null): Bad address
dd.
In all cases, if I sudo -s to root, I have no trouble

OpenSSH 2.1.1p2: /etc/nologin handling and related stuff
Attached is a patch to be applied with GNU patch -p0, notice that
configure needs to be regenerated.
The patch addresses the following annoyances:
* On AIX there is a signal called SIGDANGER which is sent to all
processes when the machine runs low on virtual memory. This patch
makes sure that this signal is ignored, because the default on older
AIX releases is to kill the running process

make distprep broken?
Hello All,
Doing a make distprep doesn't seem to work anymore:
$ make -f Makefile.in distprep
make: @SH@: Command not found
make: *** [catman-do] Error 127
I've seen this on AIX & Redhat (gnu make) and Solaris (native make). I
suspect this occurs on most platforms. Is this still the recommended way
of autoreconf'ing CVS releases for building?
