rsync many processes and slow backup
I think others have answered your questions. You may want to implement some sort of locking system in the script so that you can only run a single instance of your script at. If you are looking for a backup tool which leverages rsync you may want to take a look at LBackup : http://www.lbackup.org
There is even a pre-script you can enable (in the example resources) so that the script can run a

Can anyone help me?
I have Samba 2.0.5a running on SuSE Linux 6.0 (2.0.36) and

When I try to do a "smbclient -L MYUNIX" (according to the trouble
shooting guide) I get the following message:

Xen network problems on domU shutdown
Hi,
I''m new to XEN and have the following Problem:
If I shutdown my domU the network of the dom0 leaks. A ping from another
server to my xen dom0 shows a Packetloss > 80%. Then if I restart the
domU after some seconds the ping show a loss from 0%. I retryed that 3
times but it is really hard to go to the dom0 via ssh and recreate the
domU if the packetloss is that high.
I used google

"conversion error" and NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE - more info
Hi again,
as I am finally back working on the problem, I add the smb.conf in
the hope somebody can see what I am doing wrong.
Samba Version is 3.0.14a from Debian Sarge.
Attached is my smb.conf - there may be some unnecessary things in
it meanwhile due to too much trying, but anyways.
Meanwhile there are some more clients that have problems with
password authentication. One thing I noticed is

Urgent: rsync hangs with large directories from windows
Hello,
I get hanging rsync-processes while synchronisize windows to linux, starting
on linux.
The problem is not new, I found some mails in this list (archive) and on
http://www.mikerubel.org/computers/rsync_snapshots/#Bugs too.
Example of the command:
rsync -e 'ssh -i /backup/data/servers/identities/backup.W2000Server -p 22 -x
-oForwardAgent=no -oClearAllForwardings=yes' --archive

desire box
Hi:
Oddsock's songrequester plugin for Winamp might be the kind of thing you
want. http://www.oddsock.org/tools/gen_songrequester
Can't make any real good suggestions for non-windows operating systems, but
there might be something out there.
Geoff.

Net help analyzing logfiles: Printer permissions in Domain
Hi!
I am trying to print from an NT machine to a simple samba printer.
That NT machine is the PDC and the samba box is having logins
authenticated by the NT box.
When I try to access the printer with my own username, it works fine.
As soon as I have the account that is destined to do the printing
print, it can't log in.
I have included my smb.conf file and two log excerpts - one
successful,

xorriso or genisoimage syntax assistance
I got this figured out much faster than I thought I would. Thanks to all of
your help, Peter, Mattias, Thomas and Helmut. And Thomas, that 8 partition
live OS sounds right up my alley, and I will definitely check it out.
The second partition is working well with `parted' and `fdisk', so I am
quite pleased. Below is, again, "what I came up with". I tried to integrate

Preferred backup s/w
Hi all,
What is the current preferred method for backing up ZFS data pools,
preferably using free ($0.00) software, and assuming that access to
individual files (a la ufsbackup/ufsrestore) is required?
TIA,

Migrate NT4 Dom -> Samba 3.0.2a
Hi,
I'm testing the migration of an NT4 Domain onto a Samba-Server.
Now I'm at the point to migrate users and maschine accounts.
It works fine for some users but not for all!
This is the output:

# net rpc vampire -w samba
