Fedora Core 16 + Xen
Hey M A,
I was quite excited to see that with Fedora Core 16 I can just do:
''yum install xen'' and the hypervisor is installed.
Sadly the grub is not updated so nothing gets loaded. Should I report
bugs against this on bugzilla.redhat.com or just send them to your personally?
libvirt seems to have forgotten about Xen too.. but that is a different issue.
I played with running

Xenoprof (0.9.5) in PVOPS
Hi All.
I''m trying to use xenoprof in my Xeon machine with PVOPS (3.1.0 kernel) &
xen 4.1.1.
In the past, I had failed to use the xenoprof in this environment. (1 year
ago)
While baremetal booting shows the counter object in /dev/oprofile/0 (or
1,2,3) ,
booting with xen fails to create those objects.
Of course, opcontrol command doesn''t work. It only prints

QuickTime for Linux and vorbisfile
I recently began working on an application which will combine
Ogg Vorbis with QuickTime on the Linux platform. I am using Ogg
Vorbis 1.0rc1 and Adam Williams' QuickTime for Linux 1.3 library
(http://www.heroinewarrior.com/quicktime.php3).
I am having a strange problem.
As soon as I #include <quicktime/quicktime.h>, the code causes a
segmentation fault when run. When I look at it with

rsync's usage of ssh
I am trying to understand how rsync uses ssh. From what I understand of
the source, it simply opens a ssh connection and then simply pipes
rsync's data. But somehow my stomach tells me that this is not the whole
story.
For one, that would mean the whole (?) of rsync's protocol is only used
for not-ssh transmission. The biggest question for me right now is,
whether rsync, when transmitting

rsync daemon caching/memory usage?
I have two computers: a Linux box which I use as my workstation
(day-to-day use) and an OpenBSD box which I designate for server tasks:
gateway, firewall, etc.
I use rsync to mirror many gigs worth of data from the Linux box
(running rsync in daemon mode) to the OpenBSD machine (running an rsync
client job nightly).
Since the amount of data and the number of files that I mirror is great,

High CPU usage by lftp
Greetings,
I have written a script using lftp to mirror one directory from a ftp site.
I do not have access to the server except for being a humble user.
This is running on a fully updated Centos 5.3 box.
I am using whatever is provided by the repositories.
I noticed that lftp consumes almost all of cpu times
I found this while searching for a solution.

flush-btrfs-1 hangs when building openwrt
Hi,
Since update to 2.6.37 I can''t build openwrt on my btrfs buildroot anymore.
I''m not sure if this is related to the other flush-btrfs-1 thread.
plenty of diskspace is free:
/dev/mapper/cruor-build
97G 68G 27G 73% /opt/build
It always hangs when openwrt builds the ext4 image and runs tune2fs on it.

Non-standard usage of rsync
Hi,
I am thinking about a non-standard usage of rsync (at least not
mentioned in the man file)
I want to synchronized my collegues home directories(trees) each night
AND store rsync's internal updating commands (reversed) to be able
to restore the state of a directory the day before.
This would require
- saving the internal updating commands in a separate directory
- reversing these commands

pam_mount
Has anyone had any luck setting up pam_mount on freebsd. I cannot figure out
what I need to put in /etc/pam.conf also do the users need to exist in the
password file. I'd like to mount their user directories off the server and
not have their usernames in the passwd file if possible.

Rsync memory usage seems a lot higher than 100bytes/file
All,
I have read the lists, I have read the faq - yes, rsync uses a lot
of memory. That said - I need to use rsync in an environment with a
lot of files, and I need to use -H and --delete options. The faq says
about 100 bytes per file - at the moment I am looking at 8700000
files, which should translate to about 800MB - but it does not. In
fact, running rsync not only consumes all of the ram,

nut in openwrt
Hello,
I have a UPS device connected (USB) to a Debian server, but I want to
change it and connect to a OpenWRT router.
I installed this packages:
nut-server (2.6.5-2)
nut-driver-blazer_usb (2.6.5-2)
The problem is that I don't know where to configure it.
Anyone with a UPS connect to a OpenWRT device?
Thanks for your help.
Regards.

rsync memory usage, paid feature request
Hello,
The company I work for uses rsync for backups from client computers,
the memory usage is a problem for a lot of them since they're already
busy doing other important things (databases, web serving, etc).

out of memory
The usual reason for "out of memory" when running rsync is that you
are transferring a _very_ large number of files. The size of the

Ok. I think I'll start with the 1.0 series packages that are already
out there and get them working.

Tinc and OpenWRT
Hey Saverio,
I'd really like the idea of a tinc-1.1-pre package for OpenWRT. I'm
currently using tinc-1.1 with an Ed25519-only network, really like the
new features and CLI and want to add some OpenWRT routers into the mix.
How do you plan to handle things with OpenSSL?
tinc-1.1 from git should be able to compile without it (but will then
only support the built-in algorithms). Depending
