RSync hangs up on file transfer
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hello!
I'm using RSync to mirror from a server (gandalf) to a backupserver (dwalin).
RSync does just fit my needs for what I want it to do and I would like to
thank your for your work on RSync. Nevertheless I do have a problem which
actually comes up from time to time.
The syncing of each partition is done by rsync calls from cron.daily.

1.- I want to display statistics, create queues, etc... are there any
libraries i can use, or simply i have to use system calls from java?
2.- Does anybody thinks this is helpless, or it is helpfull?

using R in a java application
Dear All,
I'd like to write a little application in java wich should pass some commands and data to R and displays the results (tables and charts) in a java frame. First I wanted to work with Omegahat's SJava but had lots of issues already at the installation.
Then I heard some rumors that SJava generally is not a very active project and runs rather buggy (that's true?). So my

Major rsync issue - overwriting files!!!
Hi,
I'm having a MAJOR issue with an rsync backup script that is actually
OVERWRITING the files that it should be backing up!
The thing is, the same script (with different source/destination
variables) runs FLAWLESSLY on another file server!
Background:
2 OS X client computers running 10.4.11 (1 intel, 1 PPC). both are
running rsync v2.6.3.
rsync is backing up from one firewire HD(afp

again (sorry) networking between dom0 - domU priv.
Hi list,
following my last mail I added a small jpg to clarify my request...
How do I have to configure my dumm0 to enable communication between my firewall domU and my dom0. As mentioned I can ping/ssh from outside to domU (FW), I can ping ssh from there to domU(2.1) and domU(2.2). But I can''t get through to dom0.
As most of the basic understanding is missing on my side even a

The problems with rsync continues. (code 255)
Hi there:
As I posted a few days ago I have problems rsyncing two machines. I will add more logs to this e-mail hoping someone could help me.
I'm doing a daily backup calling a shell script from cron as root.
This is the log of the shell script:

rsync script for snapshot backups
The scripts I use analyze the rsync log after it completes and then
sftp's a summary to the root of the just completed rsync.
If no summary is found or the summary is that it failed, the folder
rotation for that set is skipped and that folder is re-used on the
subsequent rsync.
The key here is that the folder rotation script runs separately from the
rsync script(s).

Log / Dump Rotation Feature Request
Hello,
my name ist Robert.
I just wanted to know if there are any Plans for implementing a Log
Rotation (e.g. daily base) or dump rotation (e.g. session based).
A feature like this is not only needed for easier organisation of
Archives but for comply with the german GEMA laws.
The so called GEMA, states that (the System Administrator) should keep a

Prevent --max-delete from deleting any files?
Is there a way to prevent rsync from deleting any files if --max-delete is exceeded?
I want to avoid having my hourly cron job inadvertently destroy my backup a chunk
at a time. By morning, the damage would already be done. Ideally, it should just
stop and not sync or delete anything since something is horribly wrong.
The only way I could see to do it is by running rsync twice - something

rsync on Debian Lenny exit codes
Hello list.
I'm posting here although I'm actually running rsync from within
rsnapshot, but the problem is really rsync-related.
I've set up remote backups: remote client to backup from is Windows
Server 2003 with sshd and rsyncd running, local server is Debian Linux
(Lenny) with rsnapshot configured to use an ssh tunnel.
My command line is this one:

Rsync Problems, Possible Addressed Bug?
I got this mail from a cronjob and can't figure out what is causing
rsync to crap out on me. I received the message at 5:03, when the cron
job is scheduled to run at 4:00, so total runtime is approximately an
hour.
Machine that is fetching the files is a low-end G3 running Yellowdog
3.01, rsync --version 2.5.5. It has only 128 megs of ram, but isn't
doing anything else. Transfers are
